Milestone Moment Story:
Many times everyday items can remind us of milestone moments in our lives. My grandfather knew how to take care of women, and many women are reminded of him to this day, now that he has passed, because of an everyday item. This item reminder is triggered by the sense of smell. So many of our milestone moment events are reminded to us because one of our five senses are triggered. That item for my mom, is flowers.
My grandfather would go to many elderly women’s homes to help them plant, water, and weed their flowers. He loved flowers….and passed that love to others around him. He used flowers to express his feelings, emotions, and sentiments of life’s most important moments….and that lesson was passed on to my mother. I remember helping plant some flowers, and my mother explaining to me the stories about her father. I never really knew him, because he passed away when I was very young. She taught me about the roots and being rooted in good soil to grow. To my parents, that meant finding good, healthy friends and adults to surround me and teach me wisdom in life to help guide me through the tough rain storms that may fall on me….the flower. It was a milestone moment in my life to learn the specific characteristics to look for in someone I may call “friend.”
Preserve your Milestone Moments
I hear so many people say, “They grow up so fast.” That is what I am trying to help with here. Make sure to take everyday objects to teach your children, friends, and family members lessons about life. Make sure you take the time to slow down and learn from them too. Life goes by so fast too. We all need daily reminders of objects, to bring us back to milestone moments in our life that we celebrated and/or learned from. That is what helps keep us grounded.
There are many milestone moments we all have in life, from birth through adulthood.
– First time walking
– First time tying shoes
– First Dance
– First time driving a car
– First Love
– First Kiss
– First Home
– First time investing
– First time teaching a class
– First Grandchild hug
– Etc.
Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses, and slow down. You just might miss a milestone moment if you don’t. You and your children will thank you later in life for slowing down.
Think about all your milestone moments you have had in life so far. How many of them are you reminded of, when you see an everyday object?
There are many times in life, now I wish I knew my grandfather more. That is what a Baby Time Capsule helps solve. Let you parents leave a “Message to the Future” letter, for your child about lessons in life…..so it will be a milestone moment when your child opens that letter and sees the nostalgic and heirloom items left by grandpa. What a moment that will be when your child gets to read the letter from their grandfather, they never met. Oh how I wish I had that. Do not let this opportunity pass by. Get a baby time capsule from https://www.timecapsule.com/product/babystimecapsule/. We will be discussing milestone moments more in future blogs.
