Risking it All – No Electicity Fun Ideas – Living in the Past
Has you been watching the new tv show called Risking It All? It is about a few families who have left their comfort zone of work, and their own home to go live somewhere else and live life roughing it “off the grid.” In other words, these families are taking a ride in a time capsule or time machine and living somewhere without electricity. Could you do this?
At first I thought these families are crazy. How can anyone do that? Now, I know when the power in our house goes out, I can make it fun for a few hours and it can be romantic, but how do you live like that for months, let along years.
I always tell my friends that I live in a “toy house,” because my husband is actually in to things like solar energy, passive heat, and other geeky things like that. I do admit, that I am a penny pincher, so a part of me is turned on by it, because it saves us money. However, there are wires hooked up to batteries to power a part of our house, wax in a large barrel to heat our house, so hence the reason why it looks like a “toy house.” It is not a normal home, not only because of who is living here or how it is operated on a day to day basis (ha ha), but because of how it is built.
This show, Risking It All, really has me thinking, especially during the Thankgiving holiday time. What am I truly thankful for? We take many things for granted in life many times, as we go through our mundane daily routine. We love hearing the stories from our customers about what it is like when they open their own Baby or Wedding Time Capsules. It is like going back in time to reminisce what life was like when they were born or married. This tv show, Risking It All, helps me imagine what it would be like to go back in time and live life like my great grandparents without internet, cell phones, social media at the fingertips to connect with long lost friends, etc.

Could you Unplug from the Internet?
What would you do for fun, if you did not have technology like we do now? How do you think your great grandparents lived in the past without cell phones? Have you spoken with your older family members lately? Thanksgiving and Christmas time is a perfect opportunity to do that as you all gather around the dinner table sharing stories of today and in the past. You just might gain some great wisdom of what life was like pre-social media days. Connect with these great inspirational stories of the past. What heirloom items are still laying around your great grandfather’s house that tell fun, funny, and inspiring stories?
A time capsule is a story waiting to happen. All you have to do is fill it up, wait 10 to 20 years, then tell it to your grand children. What a momentous day that will be when the time capsule is finally opened. Gather family and friends around to enjoy a reminiscing party of stories and fellowship. I am sure there will be many tears and laughter as memories are shared that day, as each old item is pulled out from the time capsule. Get started today, with a decorative Baby or Wedding Time Capsule from https://www.timecapsule.com.
