Things You Wish You Would Have Saved

What are some things you wish you would have saved in life? Of course, everyone has a past experience; some had a terrible experience, while others enjoyed their past to the fullest. Whatever it is that you experienced in the past, you most likely have some things you wish you have saved in life. Mind you it’s not all about money. In fact, those who saved enough money have one or two things they wish they have saved other than money. In your own case, what are those things? Here are a couple of them…

However, before we note them down, let’s quickly see the reasons why you need to save some things for the future, and why they are important.

Saving something for the future is one of the best ways to keep memories alive and fresh. It is the best legacy anyone can leave behind even for centuries. This type of memory is very important as it brings back past events when you finally see those things in your time capsule. Fortunately, you can save anything you like in your time capsule and keep it for many years. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want to rack your brain to remember the good old days.

Your exciting moments

There’s nothing better than saving your exciting moment in a time capsule. These moments could be your first day in the high school, colleges, or university. The rate at which technology is influencing our lives makes it practically impossible to remember those exciting moment just the way it was. Saving those exciting moments would be the best gift to yourself and generation to come. It will not only remind you of past events, but makes you feel happy even when you are in critical condition.

Did you remember the first letter that you received from your hubby? Keeping such letter in a secured place is a good way to tell how much you appreciate him or her.

Hiker standing on rock and looking out to sea pondering about things he wishes he would have saved in life.

Your vacation events

Think about the first time you had the opportunity to meet and talk with people of different races, are you likely to come meet them again in the near future? What about the hilarious jokes and funny tradition you both shared together? Probably these are some of the things you wish you have saved in life. A time capsule for such event is worth more than a million, as it tells the story to generations to come.

Your Promises and vows

What about the vows and promises you made during your wedding anniversary? Did you remember the name you intend to give your first daughter? It’s funny, right? You would want to remember all that happened during your wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, the brain cannot hold everything. Hence, you need a time capsule to keep your promises and vows.

Have you promised to get something done before you reach a certain age? You may never remember all what you have promised to do until you find them in your time capsule. This tells you exactly what your past thinking was like and what you ought to have achieved at a particular time.

Keeping such memories is important and would remind you of many things that happened in the past days.

So, what are some things you wish you would have saved throughout your childhood, teenage, or adult life? Save them in a time capsule like the ones in the photo above. Get your time capsule today here. Comment below.

Looking for wedding reception fun ideas? We are continuing the series from our blog category about “Meeting the love of your life,” and the story of my husband and I when we first met and then got married.

If you have been following us, this time I am going to invite you to the scene of our reception. It was fun and memorable to say the least.

Show off your Personality at your Wedding

Use items at your wedding to show what shaped who you are. It was nothing big, yet it was big in the eyes of my friends and family. You see I did not grow up with much money. It was not the usual wedding reception you would expect. My mom and I had fun buying items for the big party and finding them for 75% off. It took a while deciding what to do for our wedding cake. You see, I am a practical kind of girl who has expensive taste. According to my mother, I am just like my grandmother (or her mom who has since passed away now). She had expensive taste on a frugal budget. Growing up in a family with limited resources, yet not really knowing it shaped who I am today.

I am beyond grateful for everything I have today. My parents figured out how to be creative and make my two brothers and I feel like we have money through making crafts out of nothing, making learning fun, and bonding with us using everyday items.

I say all that to say, I have always wanted a great wedding like other girls, yet value money at the same time. My fiance (at the time), Mark, and I agreed that we would rather spend the money saved from our wedding to put on a house. We know how to make a wedding fun with or without money.

Finding the Perfect Wedding Cake

I say all that to say, after looking at several wedding cakes, we decided to be creative and purchased a cake from Walmart. Walmart??? (you are thinking). I know, I know. It is not the traditional answer you would expect. We bought two large sheet cakes and one smaller cake for my fiance and I. We found a cute gazebo decoration to use as a cake topper with a picture of ourselves in it. It was a big deal to us because it showcased our personality in the cake, and still tasted great. Besides, by having two sheet cakes we could please everyone with flavor and have one white and one chocolate cake.

Be Creative at your Wedding Reception

other things that set our reception apart were the cute goldfish swimming in a bowl on our table where we sat as the bride and groom. My dad had this brilliant idea to get the fish and put them in a bowl to surprise us. The fish were strange to some, but as we told the story, it made sense.

The fish had memories to me as our family always had fish in a pond somewhere growing up throughout my life. I remember the days of sitting together and watching the fish swim in our back yard. I wanted to have fireworks at the end of my wedding too, but that idea got banned.

We all have our weird, yet fun quirks. It is important to make your wedding reception, yours. It is your one day to shine and show who all has influenced your life and made you the woman or man you are today.

1. Be yourself

2. Be entertaining

3. Include activities for all ages.

I have been looking for songs to walk down the aisle to at my wedding. The first time I heard it I knew it was the one. I was working and it came on the radio. I was hooked to the words. It was perfect. It described my father and I to a T. If you have been following our story, this is a continuation blog about the category of “Meeting the Love of your Life.”

There are so many different wedding aisle songs to choose from. Check these other ideas out here.

I have typed up her lyrics here along with the story behind the song for me.

In My Daughter’s Eyes by Martina McBride

In my daughter’s eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter’s eyes

Story behind this section: My dad has always been a big hero in my eyes. He has helped rescue me when my car broke down. It is scary being alone when you are in a car somewhere out in the middle of nowhere, without a cell phone. There was a time without cell phones, you know. I had to trust a nearby house and ask them if I could use their phone to call my daddy to come and get me and my car. Now because he has taught me how to change a tire, and many other things about cars, I know how to fix things myself. This helps me feel “strong and wise and I know no fear..” I know my dad is who he is too, because of my influence on him. What man hasn’t changed when a baby girl enters his life? I almost tear up just typing this blog reminiscing. It was all I could do to walk down the aisle listening to the song.

In my daughter’s eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter’s eyes

Story behind this section: I was always raised to care for others. So many people throughout my life (including strangers) tell me I am always so happy and smiling. I have been taught to see the positive in everything. For that, I am very thankful to both my mom and dad. We grew up with not much money, but my parents would never let us know that. We thought we were rich because of how positive they were and how they treated us. I am happy to say that my father has been an inspiration to me as many times as I have helped him have “strength when I am weak…”And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about

Story behind this section: It is the little touches that can mean so much to many. Physical touch is powerful. “Any when she wraps her hand around my finger” reminds me of the many times when I still hug my daddy tightly. He has been there so many times in my life from a baby till now. I know he has a big cheesy grin because of the warmth in the touch between us and the bond there. He is reminded of why I love him, and vice versa. Life really is all about caring for the ones who first cared for you. It’s hangin’ on when your heart
has had enough
It’s giving more when you feel like giving up
I’ve seen the light
It’s in my daugter’s eyes

Story behind this section: We have had some tough times together. We were all teenagers once going through our rebellion stage. When I slammed the doors to my bedroom because I as angry, it always ended with him giving me time to think about things, then using it as a teachable moment “giving more when you feel like giving up,” and talking through the problems with me. I am forever grateful of learning these skills for life and business today. Or when you have your first break-up with a boyfriend. You think the world is ending, but get the talk about “there is more fish in the sea. You are worth more.” Invaluable lessons from my dad. He was the first man and love of my life. Now, when my dad feels like “giving up” I know I will be there as his “light.”In my daughter’s eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she’ll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I’m gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I’ll be there
In my daughter’s eyes

Story behind this section: Who are you to your children? What do you want them to remember you for? If you were to write your kids a “Message to the Future” letter, what would you say? Reminisce with your child years later with a decorative Baby Time Capsule. Keep their memories and mementos in the time capsule. Then in 20 to 40 years re-open the time capsule and relive what life was like when your baby was first born.

I am a reflection of my father in many ways. I am sure you can relate. I have his determination, passion, longing to constantly learn, playfulness, entrepreneurial heart and drive, good looks (Ha Ha – just kidding), love for others, and other quirks. What did you pass on to your children?

Ask yourself, how are my babies “a reflection of who I am and what will be?” It was hard moving out of my parent’s house, when I grew up, but I knew I had to. It was time to start a new journey. New memories only come, when you let go and move on. My husband and father are very close and very similar. It is a rare honor to marry someone as close to my father as Mark (my husband) is. For that reason, my father will always be there.

Did you know that memories are tree stumps? Recently, my wife and I watched the animated movie, “Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.” I have read many Dr. Seuss books in my lifetime, but I honestly do not remember this one. As a renewable energy guru, this book made some interesting points to me.

Let me back up a little. I believe that we need to take care of our environment. I believe in Solar power, Solar Heat, and Wind Energy. I have a small solar power system, and I have solar heat on my home. I believe that fossil fuels are an old and antiquated idea whose time has past. I believe we can do better and if we do not start doing better soon, our children will pay the price. Now, with that said, I am also a realist. I do not believe in “tree hugging” as trees are a renewable energy! You cut a tree down to build a house, and we can plant 50 more with the seeds from that tree. Yes, the process will take between 20 and 50 years before those trees can be cut again, but in many ways, this is good for our environment!

Creative, fun nurseries start memories early in your child’s life.

To me, this story was more a commentary on 2 things . . . One, we need to manage our resources, and two, we are too eager to move on when we have over-exhausted our resources. It was not the cutting down of the trees that caused the problem in the story – it was the lack of “paying the price” for cutting down those trees. The price for cutting down the tree was to plant several more. This price was not paid, and soon, all the trees were gone.

Manage your Time Well

This can be easily translated into our lives. The reality is that most of us do not manage our time very well. We spend too much time at work and not enough time at play. We spend too much time making money and not enough time making memories. We spend too much time buying a house, and not enough time making a home. By the time we figure out that memories are more important than money, and play is more important than work, it is too late for most of us.

This is how memories are like tree stumps. This is the very reason why our company exists! We help you to preserve memories. Just like a tree has long roots and takes time to grow, so it is with our memories. When you begin to look at your life as different opportunities to make a new memory, you want to preserve those memories. This is paying the price for our existence. We do not want to look back at our life and think about all the opportunities we could have made a memory (All the tree stumps from cut-down trees) . . . we want to look back and see a memory forest of wonderful things we have done that enrich our lives, and the lives of those we love.

Make a Memory Today

I have ready many mommy-blogs on the internet about, “what to do with your child on a rainy day.” These days can be tough. The kids can’t go “out and play” and mommy has no alone time. The great part about it is that you can spend this time “preserving the memories!” What if you used that time as an “arts and crafts” time where each child thought of a memory they had over the past week, month, or couple of months. Once they have an idea, they can find a way to “preserve the memory.” This can be place into their Any Occasion DIY Time Capsule.

Here are some of the ideas we came up with:

Write a letter to their future self talking about their memory

Put together a photo collage of them making their memory

Write a story about the memory

Write a poem about their memory

Write a song and record it.

Write a poem

Draw a picture

Paint a picture

Make a sculpture

Make a video

Make an audio/video recording of them telling the story about their memory

Make a souvenir that will remind them about their memory

Write a story about all the things you would rather be doing on this rainy day

Be sure to mention or draw the people that were involved in making the memory, how it came to be, and why it is important to them.

Making Milestone Moments Count,

Lets have fun looking at these 10 fun nostalgic activities for your kids. In our last blog I gave you a challenge challenge on to you to turn off the TV for one night. Do fun things like they did in the past without a TV. Let’s discuss some nostalgic activities to do with your kids.

I hear it all the time. “The reason to have kids is so you can play with the toys yourself.” It brings back memories. challenge on to you. Turn off the TV for one night. Do fun things like they did in the past without a TV. To learn more ideas of things you can do, stay tuned in for out next blog.

1. Go outside and fly a kite. Make education more fun for your kids, by teaching them while they get to have fun at the same time.

2. Put on boots and jump in puddles. You can go way back in history and put bread sacks over your shoes with rubber bands to hold them on. Who remembers doing that? My grandma always saved old bread sacks just in case we wanted to go outside and did not have our boots with us.

3. Climb a tree. Remember when we used to see who could climb the highest in the tree? Spend time bonding with your child and make a homemade tree house. The tree house is where some of my brother’s best memories come from.

4. Skip stones across a pond. Again, it is a time to see how many skips your rock does. I still think my brother miscounted, even though he always won.

5. Have a picnic outside and make animals out of the clouds in the sky. This is a great activity to stretch your child’s imagination.

6. Sit back and just spend time listening to the rain under a tin roof. Teach your kids how you can tell how far away a thunderstorm is by the number of seconds between a lightening bolt and the thunder crack sound. It is approximate, but the number of seconds between the lightening bolt and thunder, equals how many miles away the storm is.

7. Visit a farm and see the animals. Take a horseback ride. Teach your kids not everything you eat comes from the grocery store.

8. Write a letter to yourself in the future. What do you think the world will look like 10, 20, or 50 years from now?

9. Get out your old toys as a kid and play with your child’s new toy dolls. It is like meshing two generations into one play family.

10. Make a time capsule together, preserving some of our child’s toys. You can also make a family time capsule together. Let each of your children throw in one special toy that they do not play with anymore but want to save. Pick out other items that represent your family.

Recall your old school life or childhood with your friends and siblings, as you play with your old toys of the past. Break out your Rubics cube. Call your friends over and tell them to bring some of their old toys. This could be one fun baby sitting hour with your children, while you go back in time playing with each other. Remember Teddy Ruxpin? What other stuffed bears were popular in your time? Have a Super Soaker squirt gun fight in your yard. You can still find some old Super Soakers on Ebay.

What was your favorite toy of the past? Compare your old baby doll to the newer technology dolls for your child today. I remember when Cabbage Patch kids were popular. Now there are baby dolls that talk, cry, and are very life like. What about the popular time of beanie babies? What is the most popular stuffed animal of today? I am sure it will be worth a fortune years in the future.

Save your old toys in a time capsule, to pass on to your children in the future. You never know how much of a collector’s item these toys will be in the future. You are preserving your child’s college fund when you put these items in a time capsule now. You can get your own DIY Time Capsule here, to get started today.

So go outside today. What old nostalgic activity would you like to do with your kid today? Comment below.

Do you ever wish you could freeze time? Let’s discuss the importance of preserving memories, as you may go out to eat with your family this week, or to a special event. What are you doing with your family and friends this week? Will you take your cell phones with you? What was life like before cell phones? You know there is a cost to popularity or fitting in. I heard someone the other day say, “who doesn’t have a cell phone now?”

You know we all used to do some pretty stupid things when we were young. Some of you may have wore bell bottom pants in the past. I wore them myself sometimes. I am not talking little, but big bell bottoms. Oh, they were ugly. Why did I wear them? They were popular. Why did so many of you buy pet rocks in the past. You know the rock you could name, pet it, and give it pet rock food and talk to it every day. It was stupid. People did it to be popular.

Are you more concerned about being popular than standing up for who you are uniquely made to be? Have a passion for the world and your family, but popularity gets in the way? Why do we long to be popular?

Why do we buy a Happy Meal? We want that toy. Then, we are happy. Although 15 minutes later the toy usually breaks. Then, what do you have to do? You have to go back to McDonalds and get another Happy Meal to be happy again. It changes our whole way of thinking from a young child ourselves. We learn to look for things to make us happy. We as adults have toys too, but they are more expensive. Most of the time, we are looking for toys thoughout life to make us continually happy. When that wears out, I will buy another toy, and then when that wears out, then I will buy another toy. Sadly we even take it into our relationships sometimes, treating people like play things or toys. When they do not make us happy, we will get another play thing or adopt another family.

Some of us are so protective of our possessions that we forget what is important. Possessions is not what it is all about. As long as you look for happiness you will never find it. Instead look for times to give to others, then you find happiness. There are many different ways to give back in life. Many of us become consumed with possessions that we consumerism and having the latest things.

What about the old things in life? What about the value of time together compared to the value of the latest cell phone? What is worth more to you? Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying things are not nice. I have lots of things. However it is amazing how we live in a society that pushes for us to have things, to pamper ourselves. It is amazing that no matter how many things you may have, you can still feel empty.

We here at The Original Time Capsule company value time. Time with your family, friends, elders, youth, co-workers, etc. Leadership and happiness is about going out and helping others. That is more valuable than the latest gizmo that says you are a popular leader in your pack. We either sacrifice our family to our passions, or we sacrifice our passions to our family. What are you willing to give up in order to spend more time with your family and make a difference in the world? Stop protecting your phone, and start protecting your family. Protect them by preserving memories with them. You never know what each day brings.

There is a point to all of this. Spend more time with your family. I am tired of going out to eat and seeing the whole family on their own cell phones, instead of spending the time together discussing their day at work or school. How do you bond with your family, if you are doing it with friends on your cell phone instead? How do you bond and learn to de-stress by talking things out with your family, when you are instead trying to play the latest game on your phone?

I was challenged this weekend and now I pass this challenge on to you. Turn off the TV for one night. Do fun things like they did in the past without a TV. To learn more ideas of things you can do, stay tuned in for out next blog. Ha Ha (“tune in”) Pun intended.

A time capsule is all about preserving time. Many times we want to freeze time. Many times we don’t know what we have until it is gone. Don’t wait until it is too late to bond with your children. Make your own Family Time Capsule today with our “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule.

Let us know that you too have learned the importance of preserving memories. What would you put in your time capsule to show how you spent your family time together? Comment below.

11 Ways to Go Back in Time

Have you ever wished you could turn the clock backwards and go back in time? What if you could relive that special birthday or first year of your baby’s life all over again? Would you do it if you had the chance? Let’s learn about different ways to go back in time.

You know if I could go back in time and do my English classes all over again, I would. Only this time I would enjoy writing because I would write about all kinds of things that I could save up as blogs to publish in the future (or now) when blogging is popular. It would be interesting to see how my blogs (or known as “essays” in the past) would have changed over time up until today. Then, if I knew in the past, that I could possibly be paid to write these blog posts, I would have been a very dedicated student and wouldn’t have complained as much about writing if I knew I could earn money for it.

What things would you have done differently, if you could go back in time?

It is a thought provoking question that we may or may not want to think about, let alone answer. Sometimes going back in time or history can help us realize how far we have come, what all we have accomplished, and just how thankful we should be.

List of Reasons Why to go Back in Time

It would be cool to meet ancestors or relatives we never had a chance to get to know. You could also go back in time to see your favorite pet.

Be able to start over in life and make a difference.

Be able to see your favorite old music group in concert.

You can fix old mistakes in your life if you go back in time.

It would be fun to play with old toys or games of the past.

You could pretend that your parent’s never got divorced, or any other bad thing that has happened today.

You could go back to dating again and think a little more clearly about who you wanted to marry.

You could go back in time and learn what life was like when your mom or dad was a kid.

You could meet historical characters of the past.

Go back in time to see what life was like when you were a baby.

I am sure there are many other reasons, but these are just a few to get you thinking. What would be your reason why you would want to go back in time? Share in the comments below.

List of Ways to go Back in Time

Through memory, you can return to your childhood or when you were younger. When did you first fall in love? You can reminisce with your memories just by using your five senses too. Just the smell of a specific perfume or cologne can bring back vivid memories.

Go to an old restaurant or building that has been up for years or even decades. Go to the museum and reminisce through history.

Listen to a record on a record player. It sounds so different, compared to music today, and will take you way back.

Go back in time and visit your old house you grew up in, or you can pull it up on Google maps and view it there.

You can turn back time on your computer and see what all you were working on in the past, by doing a system restore.

Think about how far you have come in life, by writing your updated resume. It is interesting to think about all your old jobs and how they have influenced you to this day.

Bring all your old social media memories back, years later using the Timehop app. It is a cool social time machine.

Pull out your old photo album and recollect all your old stories and memories.

Listen to old songs you loved as a teenager.

Play old childhood games.

Make a time capsule and collect all your sentimental mementos and memorabilia in. Then, years later open the time capsule and go back in time reminiscing about what life was like when you were born, married, or any other special milestone moment in your life. Use the “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule to create a time capsule for any subject you want. It could be for a graduation, your life, family, charity, business, birthday, etc. Get your DIY Time Capsule here.

What was life like when you were born? Would you rather go forward or backward in time? Can time travel really even be done? As they always said in the good old day, “inquiring minds want to know.” Who remembers that saying? Let’s dive into these 12 future time travel questions.

Today we are discussing reasons why it would be interesting or a good thing to go forward in time.

1. To see if you get married or not. What happens in your marriage in the future? Should you stay with the guy you are currently with if you could see into the future what happens? How would you date differently today, if you knew what would happen in the future?

2. Would you have kids if you knew what you would be going through today with your kids? Would you have more or less kids? How would you have handled your job differently if you knew it was going to start interfere with the time you have available to spend with your kids?

3. Would you have tried to get a different job or continue to go to college to be able to get your dream job if you knew what would happen to you in the future? Would you have stepped down your role at your career?

4. What about kids in your neighborhood, school, church, or other social places that you could have mentored, but chose not to? What if you could see what happens to them in the future and how would that have changed your thoughts about mentoring?

5. Just like toothpaste will not go back into that tube, once you say words, good or bad, they cannot go back into your mouth as if they were never said. So, what words would you say differently if you could see into the future? Would you purposefully teach yourself to pause and think before you speak a little more?

6. If you could see when someone close to you was going to pass away, would you spend more time with them? Would you have deeper conversations about your life and memories, rather than what the weather is going to be like for the week? Would you plan to do more bonding activities, or take more vacations together? Would you reconnect with some old friends of the past? Would you ask for forgiveness or make amends sooner if you knew what was going to happen to you or them in the future?

7. What new things will be invented in the future? Would you start doing things differently with your photos, phone, or daily work or school life if you knew there would be better technology just around the corner in the future?

8. Would you start exercising and eating healthier more if you knew what you were going to look like in the future, 10, 30, or 50 years from now? Stop something bad before it happens.

9. What will medical technology look like in the future? Would it cure your disease? If you knew there would be a cure, would you worry less?

10. You could see where you are wasting time in your life, and devote it to different things. For example, would you read a book instead of watching a TV show every night before bed? Would you go out in public more instead of sleeping away your sorrows?

11. Would you have saved more money before you bought that car you just had to have? Would you have waited a couple of years before you bought your first home, if you could see in the future that it went into foreclosure?

12. You can see if you still need a cell phone or not? What will be the latest gadgets in the future? Will you be able to have a robot as a maid in your home? I know if I had that, I could get a lot more done.

We hope you had fun reflecting on these 12 future time travel questions. It may sound like a cool idea to be able to time travel to the future, but you would miss out on the excitement of things being surprises. It is like peeking to see what your Christmas present is, before you are suppose to open it. It takes away some of the fun in life. Of course it would be nice to go forward in time, but until that invention is made in the future, we have to accept that we cannot do that. You can however write a letter to your future self, today. You can write a “Message to the Future” letter in which you talk about where you see yourself in the future. You can answer all the questions listed above in this blog. You can predict what will happen to you in the future.

Put this letter in an “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule that you decorate yourself. You can paint on the outside of the time capsule, write on it, draw, or put any picture you want on it. Then, 10, 20, or 50 years from now, you can read this letter and see if your predictions came true. Get your DIY Time Capsule here, and start today.

So if you had to choose, would you go back in time or forward in time? Comment below.

Refrigerator Memories – How your Fridge is a Time Capsule

What refrigerator memories do you have? What photos do you have on your refrigerator door? We seem to put our most meaningful and proud pictures on our refrigerator door. Ah the smell of fresh baked apple pie lingers in the house. “Mommy who is this?” Aniah points to a picture on the refrigerator. “That is your great grandmother who created this apple pie recipe and many others.”

What is on Your Refrigerator?

You can learn a lot about someone just by looking at their refrigerator, like how many kids someone has or what kinds of pets do they have. What does their daily schedule look like? I know our fridge has many different items on it like photos, favorite quotes, fun magnets, kids artwork, proud homework with a gold star on it, grocery list, to do list, etc. I am sure you can relate.

Your refrigerator is like a time capsule, inside and out. Think about it, what preserved photos do you have on your fridge? Your calendar tracks what you have done this past week, month, year. Save your calendar in an actual DIY Time Capsule, to open years later and reminisce about what you accomplished this year.

For some fun craft ideas:

Turn your old cd’s into magnets for your refrigerator. Go back in time every time you look at your old cd. I am sure you will start singing your favorite old songs too.

Reminisce by making macaroni art with your child to put on your refrigerator.

Make your own photo magnets by buying magnets sticker sheets from your local Walmart or office supply store.

Don’t just throw away that card you just received from a friend or family member, turn it into a magnet.

Your Refrigerator is a Timeline of your Life

On the inside of your Time Capsule, I mean Refrigerator; you may have leftovers from your grandmother’s favorite apple pie recipe. You may have the top layer of your leftover wedding cake you are saving to eat on your special anniversary. You may even need to clean out your refrigerator due to your moldy and aged leftovers in the back right corner of your fridge. Yuck.

Is it time to clean out your refrigerator? I do not like the thought of cleaning it out, but the other day I realized it is time. With all this snow this past Winter, you get closed in and eventually cabin fever. Winter is a time to get many things done, that I usually put off or do not have time to do during the Spring or Summer. I can always find more fun or interesting things to do when the weather is nice.

There are so many things about a refrigerator that can bring back memories, like the different flavor syrups that we used when we made our first snow cones together last Summer. What about the three quarters full bottle of balsamic vinegar from when you tried to make you first fancy recipe for your husband? That concoction did not turn out as good as the picture you saw on Pinterest. What about that homemade grape jelly stuck to the shelf, that you and the kids spent hours picking and mashing grapes together ,from the vineyard. Ah, memories.

Clean out Your Life – Create a New Time Capsule

You know our lives can be like our refrigerator. Every now and then we need to do some cleaning, removing old habits, or bitter thoughts of our past. A time capsule and cleaning out your refrigerator is a great way to reminisce, however remember it is all in the past. You can start today and create a clean, new life for yourself by reading motivational books, increasing your self-esteem, surrounding yourself with new and better friends, go on a diet and start exercising, etc. It would be interesting to start a new “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule to save different memories from this new clean journey in your life, then open the time capsule years later and see how far you have come.

Refrigerator styles have even changed a lot over the past years. I am so grateful to live today. If I was asked as a kid what do you think refrigerators will look like 20 or 30 years from now, I never would have guessed they would have TVs in them or computers, would you have guessed that? Our technology is so advanced now.

So what is in on the outside of your refrigerator? Comment below.

Carpe Diem or Seize the Day!

This is a letter to my unborn child. It is like a “Message to the Future” letter I would include in my decorative Baby Time Capsule, for her to open and read when she grows up. When she opens her own Baby Time Capsule, I hope she finds inspiration in this letter, and looks forward to reading the rest of the letters I will include. Also she can reminisce about what life was like when she was born, while reading the letters, as she finds her favorite teddy bear from her childhood in the Baby Time Capsule, or other nostalgic items. you too, can write a similar letter to your unborn child or blessed baby now, with a Baby Time Capsule from www.timecapsule.com.

“Message to the Future”

Dear future child,

I want to name you Trinity. I am a woman who has made mistakes, but feels like I have also been taught to give my all in everything I do. I want to be able to pass that lesson in life on to you too. It is hard to do that when you have not gotten pregnant yet. It hurts, as we keep trying. I have seen years of great lessons my parents have taught my brothers and I and now I want to have a baby to pass on these lessons to you.

I am just writing and thinking out loud about all my thoughts in this moment, to let you know what life is like for me right now. Sometimes we get so busy in life that we do not stop to think about how today will affect our future. I know as my future child, I want you to understand what life is really like at this time in my life, so you know what to expect yourself. I do not want you to one day wonder what it was life for your mother when she was trying to get pregnant. I do not want you to not feel like you knew your real mother, even during her dull days of life. All days are important, because the boring times can even shape who you are by what you do in your spare time. Some lessons in life I would like to pass on to you are:

Never take one day for granted. You never know what will happen from day to day in your life.

Always keep learning and surround yourself by those who are wiser than you.

Do not ever put anyone down. We are all humans and make mistakes. Instead, help someone who may be being bullied or struggling.

Try to make learning fun, when you do not understand something. It helps you remember what you are learning, and encourages you to learn more.

Do not ever give up. Nothing is accomplished by giving up on projects, school, work, or life.

Spend more time with your family and friends, instead of worrying about “keeping up with the Joneses.”

Help others in life. You grow more financially, mentally, and emotionally when you serve others and walk with integrity and empathy.

Preserve your memories to pass on to your children and grandchildren. Find ways to keep your family traditions alive. That is what helps families continue to bond together, now matter how many generations apart.

Do what you love. Be able to wake up each morning and say, “I cannot wait to go to work.” When you love what you do, it is not just a “job.”

Keep like minded people around you to motivate, tell you the truth, and guide you to better your life.

Whatever happens in the future social media wise, keep your nose clean. You never know who is watching. Not only are you representing yourself, but you are representing me and your dad as your family and how you were taught as well. Represent us all well.

Treat yourself and your body with love. Take care of your own self-esteem. You can only keep giving to others, as long as you keep giving to yourself.

Remember to keep a journal or blog for your future child. I could go on and on, but I will add more as I continue to get the strength to blog to you.

Sometimes it is hard to share your heart. Sometimes it is hard to keep giving of yourself when you do not feel you are being given back to. Sometimes you have to do things you do not want to do. Do everything with 110% effort. Live as if each day is your last.

I love you and cannot wait to write my next letter to you.

Making Milestone Moments Count,
