Lets have fun looking at these 10 fun nostalgic activities for your kids. In our last blog I gave you a challenge challenge on to you to turn off the TV for one night. Do fun things like they did in the past without a TV. Let’s discuss some nostalgic activities to do with your kids.

I hear it all the time. “The reason to have kids is so you can play with the toys yourself.” It brings back memories. challenge on to you. Turn off the TV for one night. Do fun things like they did in the past without a TV. To learn more ideas of things you can do, stay tuned in for out next blog.

1. Go outside and fly a kite. Make education more fun for your kids, by teaching them while they get to have fun at the same time.

2. Put on boots and jump in puddles. You can go way back in history and put bread sacks over your shoes with rubber bands to hold them on. Who remembers doing that? My grandma always saved old bread sacks just in case we wanted to go outside and did not have our boots with us.

3. Climb a tree. Remember when we used to see who could climb the highest in the tree? Spend time bonding with your child and make a homemade tree house. The tree house is where some of my brother’s best memories come from.

4. Skip stones across a pond. Again, it is a time to see how many skips your rock does. I still think my brother miscounted, even though he always won.

5. Have a picnic outside and make animals out of the clouds in the sky. This is a great activity to stretch your child’s imagination.

6. Sit back and just spend time listening to the rain under a tin roof. Teach your kids how you can tell how far away a thunderstorm is by the number of seconds between a lightening bolt and the thunder crack sound. It is approximate, but the number of seconds between the lightening bolt and thunder, equals how many miles away the storm is.

7. Visit a farm and see the animals. Take a horseback ride. Teach your kids not everything you eat comes from the grocery store.

8. Write a letter to yourself in the future. What do you think the world will look like 10, 20, or 50 years from now?

9. Get out your old toys as a kid and play with your child’s new toy dolls. It is like meshing two generations into one play family.

10. Make a time capsule together, preserving some of our child’s toys. You can also make a family time capsule together. Let each of your children throw in one special toy that they do not play with anymore but want to save. Pick out other items that represent your family.

Recall your old school life or childhood with your friends and siblings, as you play with your old toys of the past. Break out your Rubics cube. Call your friends over and tell them to bring some of their old toys. This could be one fun baby sitting hour with your children, while you go back in time playing with each other. Remember Teddy Ruxpin? What other stuffed bears were popular in your time? Have a Super Soaker squirt gun fight in your yard. You can still find some old Super Soakers on Ebay.

What was your favorite toy of the past? Compare your old baby doll to the newer technology dolls for your child today. I remember when Cabbage Patch kids were popular. Now there are baby dolls that talk, cry, and are very life like. What about the popular time of beanie babies? What is the most popular stuffed animal of today? I am sure it will be worth a fortune years in the future.

Save your old toys in a time capsule, to pass on to your children in the future. You never know how much of a collector’s item these toys will be in the future. You are preserving your child’s college fund when you put these items in a time capsule now. You can get your own DIY Time Capsule here, to get started today.

So go outside today. What old nostalgic activity would you like to do with your kid today? Comment below.

Ways to Honor, Remember, and Celebrate Our Presidents

It is a day to honor, remember, and celebrate. It’s President’s Day. I am sure some of you are ready to go out shopping to get your great deals. President’s Day is also important to celebrate for other reasons. I know not everyone likes our current president. We are not here to get in a big debate about everything going right or wrong. No matter what, honestly, I cannot imagine the pressures of being the president. This President’s Day, we are going to focus on creative ways to honor, remember, and celebrate our presidents over time.

President’s Day is a perfect time to reflect on the past. History is important so that we do not make the same mistakes twice. We want to learn from those who have gone before us, from those who lead us, and from those who are making an impact in the world. I was one of those students who used to sit in my history classes, thinking, “when does this class end?” Now, as I am older, I have a deep respect for history and wish I payed attention more in class. Sometimes it can be helpful to find creative ways to make learning fun and memorable.

Time Capsules Teach

Have kids write what they think it would be like to be the president. Interview your own family members and ask them what they remember about the presidents when they grew up? How was the world different in the past, with those presidents. President’s Day is a time to reconnect and reminisce about the leaders who have changed this country. My parents always taught me the importance of honoring our leaders. One fun way to do that is through a time capsule.

A time capsule is all about reminiscing about our past. The time capsule could be used as a teaching tool for parents and teachers in school. Help the kids create a history timeline about the past presidents. For a creative example of this, check out this link.

Leaders Teach about Positive Traits

Leaders, like our presidents can teach us all about positive traits we should aspire to have. What better way to teach your kids about positive virtues and characteristic traits are important to have, to make an impact in this world or to better themselves in the future. As you teach about these important traits, you can help your child dress up like our great presidents in the past using old toilet paper rolls, seen in the picture above. Have fun bonding as a family, and teaching your child about history at the same time. What traits would you like to see in your child? Who in their lives are influencing them for the better? Teach your kids to constantly find friends and adult to be around who are wise, educated, positive influences, etc.

What to Make and Put in a President’s Day Time Capsule

Have kids answer questions about President’s Day on fun worksheets, or write an essay about what they think the President does all day. You could also have the kids talk about what they think the future world will look like, and how the President will run the country. Have the kids write a letter to the president. You may be surprised by some of the answers, depending on the age of the child. Can you imagine what the reaction of that child would be years in the future, when the President’s Day Time Capsule was opened by their elementary teacher, who then mailed their old essays to the adults 20 years later to read? It is amazing how different we think as children, compared to when we are adults. Save these fun letters, worksheets, essays, and kids crafts in the time capsule. Also save other mementos and memorabilia to open 20, 30, or 50 years later. It will be interesting to see which kids predictions come true about future presidents when the time capsule is opened in the future. Get your own “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule today to make your own President’s Day Time Capsule or a time capsule for any other topic or event you want.

So if you wrote a letter to the President, what would you say? Comment below.

Who Can Use a Time Capsule – Church Time Capsule Ideas

Time capsules are a great place to illustrate and save our spiritual and inward journey in an outward, physical way. Pass on your faith through a gift that lasts a lifetime. A time capsule can help you chronicle your introduction to faith. You can also store your questions and prayers, and then answers received, in this sacred place of the time capsule.

Photo from: https://www.facebook.com/UnionChapelMuncie/photos/a.10152257301876845.1073741836.131023046844/10152257303296845/?type=1&theater

Give a Baby Time Capsule as a Baptism or Christening Gift

After a baby dedication or baptism, ministers can give this timeless keepsake in the form of a decorative time capsule to the proud parents. You can get a Baby Time Capsule from http://www.timecapsule.com/product/babystimecapsule/.

The guests at the baptism ceremony can each write a note to the child using the “Message to the Future” letters included. This is a perfect for a Godmother to give away as a gift, let alone a gift from the parents of the child. The baptism of a baby is a joyful celebration, as many family members gather around taking photos. Use the photos as the first sentimental mementos to save in your baby’s time capsule.

Make sure to include a souvenir or item representing something from the religious belief or church. Also make sure to include things like a newspaper from the day of the baptism or christening. This is a timeless gift, for such a memorable milestone moment in your child’s life. Preserve this part of your baby’s history in a time capsule. Then store the decorative Baby Time Capsule in the nursery, or somewhere private for his or her 18th or 21st birthday or any other birthday or special occasion.

When the time capsule is opened, it will be interesting to see what life was like the year you baby was born, how things have changed, and all the nostalgic keepsakes inside which will probably create a few laughs and tears.

Youth Pastors can Use a Time Capsule

Youth pastors can also use a time capsule for lesson about saving yourself for marriage. You could have the youth each write a letter to their future selves about who they want to marry. You could also do a lesson about treasuring their days of youth, and using this time in their life to journal about their changes, challenges, and choices they are going through at this milestone moment of being a teenager.

The youth could do a lesson about putting away their old self, as they are trying to lose weight, get off drugs, learn how to avoid negativity, or bad company they hang around, by writing these things down, then putting them in the time capsule. It would be interesting as an adult, to open the time capsule years later to see how much you have grown or changed for the better as a teenager in youth group. This may be a great activity for a few of us as adults too, now that I think about it.

What one thing do you wish you knew as a teenager, now that you are older? What do you wish your parent’s had warned you about, encouraged you to do, or shared with you as a teenager? Have the parents of the teenagers, write out “Message to the Future” letters to the youth about predictions of where they see their son or daughter in the future, giving advice, or sharing funny stories of hope, encouragement, and life as an adult.

Photo from: https://www.facebook.com/UnionChapelMuncie/photos/a.10152257301876845.1073741836.131023046844/10152257304551845/?type=1&theater

There are many versatile uses for the time capsule. Just because it says Baby Time Capsule, does not mean you cannot buy it and collect items for your teenager now. I know you have a few spare photos of your teenager when he or she was a baby. Include those baby photos, along with a few mementos from your teenager’s life currently in the Baby Time Capsule.

Your teenager does not need to know when you purchased the time capsule. “It is the thought that counts.” After all, no matter how old your teenager is, they will always be your “baby.”So preserve your teenager’s story today, so he or she can reminisce tomorrow or years into the future. What a great Graduation gift.

What would you put in your child’s time capsule? Comment below.

How to Teach your Kids to be Happy

“You two look so happy together.” “How are you two so happy?” “It is so great to see a happy couple.”

These are messages my husband and I hear a lot when we are just walking around in the grocery store, or at random places, from strangers. We have heard this at least five times in our 10 year marriage so far. It is so sad to me that people are shocked to see happy people walking around, to the point that they feel they have to comment about it.

Working in counseling for years, taught me how unhappy so many people are in the world. I for one, will make sure my future child knows how to be happy, and the benefits of this lifestyle. I will be passing these happiness lessons to my future child in a decorative Baby Time Capsule from http://www.timecapsule.com/product/babystimecapsule/.

Happiness is a Choice

It is not always easy to be happy, and just like our marriages it requires effort. Just remember we are all under construction. There are a lot of articles on the internet about how to be happy in our health, relationships, work, and life in general. Currently there is a challenge spreading around on social media about taking pictures of 100 Happy Days in your life. ‘Can you be happy for 100 days in a row?’ Check out the challenge at http://100happydays.com/. #100HappyDays

Here at The Original Time Capsule company we want you to enjoy the moments and memories more that you have with your family, friends, co-workers, and strangers in life. We want you to create a list of how you stay happy in life, to pass on to your children in a Baby Time Capsule. When your child opens the time capsule in the future, it will be very helpful to see all the stories, quotes, life hacks, or other memorabilia you put in the time capsule to teach your adult child now how to continue to be happy in the many areas of their life. The following are suggestions of what I play to teach our future children, about how to be happy.

1. When you have nothing to hide in life, and walk with integrity no matter who is around, it is easier to be happy.

2. When you have a healthy self-esteem, it helps you increase your happiness and be grateful for many things in life.

3. When you learn to use your life and freedom for the good, it helps you build your confidence and happiness. Make your choices count towards your happy life. Live intentionally and love your work.

4. When you give back to others, it helps you build an intrinsic happiness that lasts for years to come. Other’s happiness brings you genuine happiness. Putting yourself in another person’s shoes, helps you keep your own problems in perspective.

5. When you find an interest or hobby, to enjoy as an outlet you have something to run to giving you stress relief and therefore happiness in the end.

6. When you surround yourself with other happy people, you feed off of each other’s energy of joy, helping you live long, fulfilling lives. Spend more time with friends and family, because money truly cannot buy you happiness.

7. Practice smiling, so when you do not feel like it, it becomes a habit. Smiling makes us feel better, especially if you couple it with thinking positive thoughts. Practice gratitude and keep a journal of things you are grateful for. This would be a great journal to save in a time capsule, to reflect on years later in your life about how much you have changed and hopefully become more happy over time.

So how do you teach your children to be happy? Comment below.

A Continuation of Milestone Moment: The Secret to Preserving Memories (How I Met My Wife). Read the previous blogs in the category called: Meeting the Love of your Life.

My time with my nieces is precious! I never seem to have enough. When I am with them, the time flies by and it is over too soon. This time was a little different though. I was actually spending 9 days with them, so it seemed like it went slower. On Sunday morning, they were all getting ready for church, and I decided to check my email. It had been several days and I really wanted to know if FaithfulGodChaser had sent me an email. To be honest, I really didn’t expect it. In my mind, I was thinking about all the reasons that I had given her not to email me. You see, I had told the truth about my life. . . I told her about being divorced and expected that a “good girl” like her would not be interested in even a friendship with someone like me. I was shocked when I opened my email . . . There it was.

I had butterflies in my stomach as I opened it up. What would it say? Would she be kind? Would she tell me to go away? I began to read her email. I didn’t even realize until later that I was biting my bottom lip with anticipation. After reading a paragraph, I looked to see if this was a short or a long email . . . To my pleasant surprise, it was huge! It took me about 30 minutes to finish reading the email. As I was closing it down, my youngest niece, Sydni, (Spelled, S-Y-D-N-I-With a dot! You do not forget her dot, or she will not be happy with you!) asked me what I was doing. I told her that I was reading an email from a girl I just met online. Even at the age of 4, she understood what this meant and she made sure the whole house knew! Uncle Mark has a girlfriend! Uncle Mark has a girlfriend!

While my relationship with the girl I now knew as Marcie was far from being a “real relationship” the taunts from the children in the house went on all day. “Mark and Marcie, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” We all know the song. We have all sung it at one point in our lives. I must admit, it is a little different when you are a grown man, hearing these childhood taunts. It had been 6 or 7 years since I had been in any kind of relationship, and it felt good to know that this was even a possibility.

It took me a couple of days to find the time to email her back. I stayed up late on the last night that I was there in order to send a response. I needed to think without all the tormenting from my favorite girls in the world. I carefully answered her questions and posed a few of my own. This girl seemed to have a lot of things in common with me. She was not interested in a romantic relationship, and frankly, neither was I. This was my first attempt after being divorced. There was still a lot of hurt there. While emailing with her was fun, it also brought up a lot of hurt and pain.

I drove home in quiet reflection of the email I had received while there. I thought about who this person is and what she had said. I knew in my heart that we would be good friends. I knew that God had brought her into my life for a reason. I knew that my life would never be the same just because we had talked. But I didn’t know how true those thoughts really were . . .

It would be interesting to journal about my anxiety levels (as they were very high at this point in our relationship), and watch them fall as I got to know my future wife better. Now that is a journal that would be helpful to read to my future child, to explain what it is like meeting “the one” you will marry eventually. What a fun journal to save in a time capsule. Let’s face it, it can be scary meeting someone we do not know, let alone someone online. Here is a helpful website to help you write your first (milestone moment) email back to that special someone, like I did. Check out these tips at http://www.match.com/magazine/article/8753/Send-A-Standout-Email/.

Have fun getting to know each other. Remember it is important to be friends first. Start your life story of how you met with a journal like this at https://www.etsy.com/listing/130915450/memories-from-the-day-we-met-5-x-7?ref=market. Save this journal in your Wedding Time Capsule, to open up years later (like at your 25th Anniversary) to read again, and cry or laugh together as you reminisce. Save your emails you write back and forth together, as you get to know each other, then read them years later after you get married. What a milestone moment that day will be for you both, as you reminisce and reflect on what life was like the year you first met or emailed each other.

Where did you first meet your spouse? Comment below. We love to hear your stories too.

Own What Makes You Different – Make a Time Capsule

What are we going to name her? I don’t know, how about you make a list of names you like, and I will make a list of names I like, then we will come together and compare. Let’s see if we have any similarities on our list, then we will choose the best name we like together over dinner somewhere nice. I know this is a common conversation at many other homes around the world, for parents who are about to have a baby. Choosing a baby name, is a difficult decision to make, especially if you want the name to have a special meaning. It is a name your child will have for the rest of their life.

What’s in a Name?

To many, your child’s name is the beginning of their life resume. It may be a name that continues the heritage of your family. There are also many stories, or memories with friends that come to mind when we hear certain names. When you decide on a name, it is like pre-writing the resume of your child. Some people wait till their child is born, to look at him or her physically and emotionally, and then decide on a name that fits his or her personality. When we hear a name, it is like looking back at his or her past self. A name can even be like a “Message to the Future” self of what life will be like for him or her. Start your child’s resume now, with a great and meaningful name. It is always interesting to see how much a child has grown over the years, and watch the character of their name come out more. The name you choose for your child is the precursor of asking “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Make a time capsule, which reflects your baby’s name and personality. Get a decorative Baby Time Capsule from http://www.timecapsule.com/product/babystimecapsule/.

How to Choose a Baby Name?

So where do you begin, to find that perfect name that just “fits?” There are many circumstances to think about for your child, in the future, when choosing their name. Check out this helpful article to help you narrow down your list of names at http://blog.thebump.com/2013/09/17/5-things-i-didnt-think-about-before-picking-a-baby-name-that-i-wish-i-had/. Many people want to know what names are trending. This may help you find a great name, but make sure you pick a name that has meaning to you and your child, not one that is just the latest trend. What is trendy now may not be a trend in the future.

Similar to the baby time capsule, what you save in your child’s time capsule now may not be popular years in the future. That is what makes the time capsule opening celebration so much fun. It is a way to re-live that time in the child’s world, and laugh as what we all thought was “in” or “cool” in the past. Make sure you save your list of names you went through in your child’s baby time capsule, so they see all the work you went through to name them, and see how close they would have been, to being called a girl name. What a laugh that will be in the future, when your child opens that time capsule at their graduation party for example, to see what life was like when he or she was born.

20 Key Benefits of a Time Capsule

She was scared to take baths as a three year old. Until, one day her aunt showed her how the doggy takes baths too. When you make things more fun, children are more likely to listen and imitate. My niece and I gave the dog a bath after playing fetch with the hose and the dog. Cinnamon, our dog, is a Chocolate Lab and Australian Shepherd mix. She is full of energy and a great life lesson teacher. After playing in the water, Cinnamon shook, which splattered all her water onto my niece and I. My niece, Skylar, laughed and realized taking a bath could be fun. Then a few hours later, Skylar gladly took her own bath, had fun, and shook herself when she was done. I laughed so much at her. I was happy she had fun, changed her perspective about a daily skill, and she and I had a great bonding moment to last for years to come.

What special milestone moments would you like to relive again?

There are many different benefits of a time capsule. A time capsule has the ability to transport both you and your loved one to a different place and time. It can be an activity to break up your daily worries or activities in life. Most people enjoy hearing stories behind mementos. So why not start making your time capsule today? It will be a legacy keepsake for your future generations to enjoy.

Benefits of a Time Capsule

1. It is a great bonding activity to do with other family members or friends.

2. It is a great way to get others communicating about their thoughts and feelings (can be very therapeutic).

3. It can be a form of meditation, as you are reflecting back on your life or where you want to be in the future. We all need to have goals in life.

4. It can be a way for you to bury your past (so-to-speak), and start a new life of freedom. This would be a time capsule I do not know if I would want to reopen in the future though, unless you completely feel healthy and want to see how far you have grown spiritually, mentally, emotionally, or physically. For example put a picture of how you look now in the time capsule, then lose weight, and see how far you have come years later.

5. Creating a time capsule can be a fun, rewarding hobby, like scrapbooking.

6. Similar to a classic movie or song bringing back great memories, creating a time capsule can do the same. This is especially important for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. It is like reminiscence therapy. What is a classic movie you have not seen for a while? A time capsule improves memory and creates a family heirloom.

7. A time capsule would be a great, unique centerpiece for a Wedding or Baby Shower. Make a game out of it, and have guests bring things to put in it for the future couple or baby to see or read years later. What are your predictions of where the couple or baby will be in life, in the future?

8. A time capsule can make you use all of your senses to create and preserve your nostalgic moments.

9. It can help close the gap of generations. For example, explain how to use technological things like the latest cell phone (if we even have cell phones in the future).

10. It can help military families (especially those who are gone when their child is born), not forget any moments or memories (as you can write each day what is happening in a journal). Memories can fade easily, so help preserve those smaller, and seemingly less significant events that happened during your separation, while one of you is in the military.

11. Your family history is important, so include small notes on each item in the time capsule. Decades from now, your descendants can learn all about what life was like when you were born or alive. A time capsule is the best tangible history book around.

12. For an adopted child or someone in foster care, a time capsule can be like their beginning “life story,” so he or she feels some attachment to their biological family and has a sense of belonging.

13. A time capsule can be like a memorial, to help with grief and bereavement of a past loved one.

14. A time capsule helps preserve your favorite memories, in a safe place.

15. It can be a creative way to share wisdom, from adults or grandparents to children or grandchildren.

16. It helps you prioritize and organized which favorite baby items to keep or give away.

17. It is a tangible scrapbook, for those things that do not fit in a scrapbook.

18. It protects your items better than a scrapbook (if you do not bury it).

19. A time capsule can be a great classroom activity to unify students for a single, positive purpose.

20. A time capsule can help restore marriages, by opening the Wedding Time Capsule, when you have an argument together in the future, to remind you why you got married.

If you want to read more information or research on the benefits of a time capsule or memory box, check out http://commons.emich.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1363&context=honors St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital even understands the benefits of creating a time capsule or scrapbook.
It’s a boy! Oh the excitement and fear that fills her heart immediately. There are so many different feelings rolling through her mind. All she knows now, is that she is exhausted and just wants to hold that bundle of joy, she just birthed. What an amazing miracle this baby is. How do you remember every minute during this milestone moment?

There are many different products to help save this special moment in a mother’s life. There are shadow boxes, memory books, keepsake kits, hand print kits, scrapbooks, etc. A unique idea, would be to use a Baby Time Capsule, so you can save the memories for years, preserve special items that may not fit into a scrapbook, then open it at a child’s 18th graduation or when they have their own children, and relive their own day of birth. What was life like the year you or your child was born?

You many not remember every little detail when you child was born, or of their first year of life. You were so busy as a new mother, trying to absorb it all in at once, learning what new sounds or baby moves mean. So, why not spend those many nights awake with the baby, writing down your every thought, feeling, and wish, or prediction about where you see your child in the future, using the “Message to the Future” letters and Baby Profile Book included in a decorative Baby Time Capsule from www.timecapsule.com.

Check out a testimony from one of our fans on our Facebook page, who has purchased a Baby Time Capsule in the past. If you want to visit, our Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/TheOriginalTimeCapsule.
You can even use your child’s first birthday party or your baby shower to have family and friends come over, each bringing something special, to put in your Baby Time Capsule.
Question: for all you mower lovers out there.

Why is it you love to mow?

We have about .75 acres to mow at our home. I just push mowed about .25 and am tired already. Why is it is easier to let go of things, when it is a burden. What I mean is, I am so ready to put up a pole barn, large pond, lots of flowers, etc, to have less yard to mow.

Why is it easier to let go of things, when it is a burden, but harder to let go of things when not a burden. For example, why do we cling to our favorite shirt, or item in the home, that just sits in our closet or on a shelf collecting dust for years. We even forget about it. The favorite shirt does not even fit anymore, but we have to hang on to it for what….sentimental reason, we may lose weight, etc.

Or…does the shirt or item in the house actually cause a burden in reality. My opinion is yes. It does cause a burden, in that it holds us back. It makes us cling to the past. In the past, we have done a blog about us as a company encouraging you to keep things, or be hoarders. Read that blog at http://www.timecapsule.com/wedding-memories-stories-and-decorating-ideas/19-items-to-save-from-your-wedding-day-hording-is-encouraged/. In reality, perspective seems to change as you get older.

What are you missing out on life by not letting go and starting over? Besides, for us women, it can be another excuse to go shopping, by letting go of that favorite shirt or item in your closet or on your shelf.

A time capsule, is actually an item that forces you to think of the main things you want to preserve. It forces you to choose those important sentimental items to save and pass on to future generations. Get your decorative and unique time capsule at www.timecapsule.com. It is important to look at the priorities in your life, and get rid of things that hold you stagnant. To help you filter through what to keep and what to give away or throw away, check out this article at http://www.wikihow.com/Let-Go-of-Sentimental-Clutter about how to let go of sentimental clutter. So, just like that popular song says in the movie, Frozen, “Let it Go.” Sorry, for those of you who will be singing that the rest of your day now. It gets stuck in your head, believe me I know.

All in all, I hope it does not rain much this week, to make the grass grow. I am not looking forward to push mowing anytime soon again. Man, we have go to fix that riding mower honey.

If you need a daily reminder of how important this concept of letting go is, check out the vinyl wall quote at http://vinylcraze.com/living-room/653-remember-the-moments-past-future-present.html

Use a Time Capsule to Find your Dream Jobs

A time capsule is like a dream catcher. Instead of letting your life stories slip through your fingers, capture them and save them in a time capsule forever. Open the time capsule years later to see if some of your dreams come true. Write a “Message to the Future” letter to yourself about your predictions of where you will be in the future. What were your dream jobs as a kid? How have those answers changed over the years?

Do these statements sound familiar?

•	“They grow up so fast.”
•	“Where did the time go?”
•	“How is it already May? Didn’t this year just start?”
•	“There are not enough hours in the day.”

I am sure you have said one of these at least, especially if you are a parent. It seems like we live in a day and age where the stories we hear on media seem to have more importance than the stories in our lives. Our own stories are usually more encouraging and positive anyways, compared to the news. We need to stop teaching our children that the people on television and in media have lives you want to emulate. Make your own life headline.

Teach your children to be heroes, whose great acts of love, and service, we celebrate. Teach your children which stories to pay attention to and which ones are worth keeping and copying in the future, using a time capsule.

We may not make the front page of a local newspaper, but our very own time capsule can draw just as much attention to our lives, when friends and family see it and ask, “What is that?” or “So, what’s your story?” This will draw attention to you and what you have accomplished, or pushed through in life so far.

What were your dream jobs, as a kid, teenager, or adult? What do you want to be when you grow up? It would be so interesting to ask your child every year, and have them write down their answer on paper (to see how their handwriting changes over the years), until they graduate high-school. Save these answers in a decorative Baby Time Capsule. Also use the time capsule to pass on great advice to your children, like how to find your dream job. I enjoy connecting and building relationships with others on Linked In. Check out this helpful article to pass on to your kids and to help yourself, from Linked In at https://www.linkedin.com/today/post/article/20140217074718-64875646-simple-tips-to-boost-your-career-and-find-your-dream-job

What would you tell your children about how to be a star in the future? How can they be a positive headline at their future job? This lesson is an important life milestone moment between you and your child. Teach the early, the keys to success in life to achieve their dreams.

What advice would you give to your child, about their future job? Comment below.
