Let’s learn together tips to organize paperwork memories. I told myself I was going to do Spring cleaning this year. It is now Summer. So I procrastinated a little. Don’t we all, especially if you are a mother. Life can get so busy. When I think I have time to do things I need to or want to, something else comes up. I am sure you can relate.

What do you do with your containers full of sentimental papers from you childhood, school years, or your own child’s projects from school? I am looking at a container full of things that have been hard to let go, but now is the time. I have to figure out what to keep and what to get rid of.

So as you look around your house, what papers, letters, certificates, etc still have special meaning to you? Where do you store them?

This is a list of all kinds of things to save in a time capsule, as far as paperwork and stationary mementos.

old newspapers

magazines

trending games on paper (crossword puzzles, or games like the old one we played as a teenager that was popular called MASH, or those origami fortune tellers, etc)

paper dolls or other popular fun toys made of paper (paper hats, paper boats, your first paper airplane as a child that you made, etc)

cards you received over the years in life

certificates

excerpts from favorite books

your online stats from your current social media pages (imagine what your numbers will be 10, 20, or 50 years from now).

old report cards

children’s favorite artwork and coloring page

journal pages

old bills

old receipts

important documents for your home, car, insurance, work, etc.

hanging paper decorations left over from a favorite party you had

crafts you made out of paper yourself

favorite photos

any laminated paperwork that means something to you (like your family tree for example)

etc

We can all use a great idea of how to organize paperwork, let alone memories that are hard to throw away. Your child comes home every day from school and empties their backpack. It is full of papers. As I watch children come home with all these memories, I reminisce about a few papers I wish I would have saved in life. What was the first coloring page you did as a child? What was your first artwork you made? Do your remember how old you were?

Stop using large bins, cardboard boxes, or just throwing things in a pile. Instead select the most important and favorite paperwork that means something to your child and then put those items in a decorative Baby Time Capsule. Then once school is over, and your child graduates high-school, give them their very own Baby Time Capsule to open. Can you imagine the look on their face when they open it up and see their first grade report card, their first story they wrote in school as an assignment? It could be a fun and embarrassing graduation party as the time capsule is opened in front of family and friends reminiscing about what life was like when your child was born and went through their school years. I still have my first diary from elementary school. It is a treasured memento even today. It is fun to see or read how much you have changed over the years and who all was a great influence in your life.

Let your kids decide what to keep and what to throw away so you do not feel guilty as a mother trying to decide what to put in the time capsule.

Get your Baby Time Capsule today here to get started now. What other paperwork would you keep in a time capsule for your child in the future? Comment below.

Making Milestone Moments Count,

You just had your baby recently or within the past year. This time is important to start bonding with your baby. It is amazing how fast life can go by, but when a baby is born, we go back in time ourselves and try to remember what it was like when we first discovered little things about the world. However from ages 1 to 3 it is very hard to remember what happened in our lives. Let your child know how much you loved him or her by video recording what bonding activities you did with him or her.

Build your relationship with your new baby early, and start the mentality that you are the one they can rely on. Teach them that you will always be there and can tell them anything. This all starts with the bonding processes between baby and mother or father.

Sometimes we can forget the importance of touch, hugs, kisses, love, and kind words as we go throughout our busy day with others. It is not because we do not care about these things. It is just some things that can get put aside as we go through our to do list during the day.

Let’s stop for a few minutes now and reflect on creative ways to bond with your baby. It will be worth it years into the future.

1. As you are trying to lose your weight from your pregnancy, search for a you tube video about the best mommy baby workouts that are fun to do together. Your baby is your mini me, so teach him or her at a young age to take care of themselves and exercise.

2. We all have a desire to be loved. Make it a habit to express this love by telling them “I love you because ___________.” Fill in the blank. Your baby will respond to physical touch like hugs and kisses, let alone the words that come out of your mouth to match your facial expressions. Do this consistently multiple times per day.

3. Eat with your baby. Get them used to everyone sitting at the table together at least once. This develops a habit of sharing about your day and getting to know your child at an early age.

4. Turn off your phone, computer, social media, etc. and spend at least one hour per day in silence with your baby or child playing together. This teaches your baby how much you care and want to listen to them to discover what their interests are. Read them a book. What is their favorite story?

5. Having a consistent schedule every day helps increase the bond between you and your baby, because it builds trust and expectation. This helps decrease anxious moments between you and your child too.

6. The time really does fly when you have a baby. It takes time getting used to each other, when the baby is first born. Every day moments count. Feeding time and rubbing lotion on your baby’s skin is helpful to help you and your baby bond immediately.

7. Be patient for your baby’s first smile. It may take some time to figure out your baby’s personality, but when you do, you will want to do things to increase your baby’s likes, increasing the chance for a smile and a bonding moment. Make bath time fun with toys. Wrap a warm blanket around your baby. Most importantly cuddle up close, to increase your baby’s bond and create powerful lifelong memories.

So, again, where do you keep all these memories. How would you describe to your baby in the future what all you did to bond together. Don’t just describe it, record it on a voice or video recorder. What story book did you read every night. You might as well record your voice reading it. Imagine the moment when your baby turns 18 and graduates high school, and is able to reminisce about what life was like when he or she was born.

Save all these bonding moments in a decorative Baby Time Capsule. Get yours here today.

Let’s learn about 6 ways to not lose your valuables.

I can’t find it. I just can’t find it. What am I going to do? Have you ever had the moment when you thought you had your credit card or purse with you one moment, and then the next thing you know it is gone? It is such a scary moment. An adrenaline rush as you are standing in line waiting to pay for those items you want and/or need.

Have you every had that moment when you didn’t realize how valuable something was until it was gone? There are many things in life that if I lost, I think I would lose my mind. For example, I do not know what I would do if I lost my cell phone. This has happened to some people I know. We keep so many valuables in our phones nowadays. We save our precious photos, key contacts, important text messages, videos, etc. What is so precious to you that you keep in your cell phone?

Here are some suggestions to make sure you don’t ever lose your most prized possessions:

Get a digital dropbox online to save your valuable items that you save on a hard drive (documents, websites, pictures, files, etc).

Get a fire and flood safety box to save important paperwork like titles to your car, insurance policies, stocks/bonds, money, passports, birth certificates, tax returns, heirloom items.

Install a home burglar system. Granted, they can be expensive, but the relief in being able to sleep each night knowing nothing will be stolen from you is priceless.

Have you ever lost your keys to your car or home? Do not just hide them under a door mat or planter near your door. Put them somewhere that is unpredictable for a robber. Give a spare set of keys to a family member, friend, or neighbor you trust.

Install an app or sensor key that will help you find your cell phone when you lose it. I am speaking from experience, that this works wonderfully. I am busy like so many of you and get distracted by projects and to do lists throughout the day. Attach Cobra Tag or PhoneHalo to your valuables, like your phone. Install this technology to help ring your phone when you cannot find it. You will thank yourself later when you lose your cell phone. There are also similar devices for your wallet called Wallet TrackR.

What about the valuables when you were a child? How do you preserve your most treasured memories that may not fit in a scrapbook? For example, what if your father gave your newborn baby a legacy gift of his to keep in the family, like an heirloom pocket watch, or original recipe for famous restaurant that your family may start some day? Where do you keep it all safe? The most creative answer we have for you is put it in a decorative Baby Time Capsule.

We live in a hectic, busy world some times and we forget to slow down to think about how we are going to protect our daily valuables. Use some of these suggestions because we do not want you to go into panic mode next time you lose your keys, phone, or most prized possessions from your childhood.

What’s Your Company Story

What’s your company story? Nowadays with more and more people visiting company websites, the “About Us” pages are read. People want to know where their items are coming from. Who are the owners behind the company? How did they come up with their products? We are constantly asked on the phone, how did you come up with the time capsule concept?

Our friend and the original owner, Jeff McCarty, had a love for fine art, graphics design, and memorabilia, which inspired him to create the time capsules. He has one for every year of his life, because his mother collected them for him. As a teenager, he wanted to collect all his high-school memorabilia and save it for years into the future. He wondered one day, why can’t we have time capsules for major life events, such as births or weddings, to open later in life. Then, the milestone collection of time capsules was born.

We bought the company seeing Jeff’s vision, and then wanting to expand on it with several new items, including the “Any Occasion” DIY DIY time capsule, because we believe many people need to appreciate their family and major life milestones more. Technology seems to be taking over, and people are forgetting what is important in life. We wanted a way to slow down, and to reminisce, so you never forget where you came from or what you accomplished using a time capsule. The “Any Occasion” DIY time capsule is meant to commemorate a special moment or event. These time capsules are all about nostalgia.

My daily goal is to service others as I would want to be serviced in work and life. My husband and I have an extensive background in business. We strive to provide good customer service and fantastic products. With a history in Real Estate and Counseling, I have worked with many people in life.

While working in private practice counseling, I discovered a rare disease I have was getting worse, so I had to find a less stressful job. I loved my job, so if I had to get out, God was basically going to have to push me out and provide for my family as well. Next, the opportunity of a lifetime came, and The Original Time Capsule company was sold to my husband and I. It is amazing what is going on behind the scenes sometimes, which will help guide your life in different, yet better directions. I can honestly say I love being co-owner of The Original Time Capsule company as well. I still get to interact and help so many families and people from other companies. While working in counseling I found many families struggling to keep up with this fast paced life. So many traditions and stories were not being passed down, to influence and help the younger generation. This is why I fell in love with our time capsule company even more. Now we have a product that can help mothers not feel guilt and shame for not keeping memorabilia or memories from their children, due to lack of time. The time capsule is quick and easy to put together, still preserving memories.

Our lives are filled with Milestone Moments. These moments are here now, and with the blink of an eye, they are gone, living only in our memories. The problem is that memories fade with time and age. As we grow older, our memories become more and more precious to us and yet they also become more and more distant. At The Original Time Capsule Company, we offer you a way to preserve your memories to be shared with those you love in the future. It is not often that we can share an experience with future generations 10, 15, or even 20 years in the future with crystal clarity. We give you that ability. For more insight into our story listen to the radio interviews on our website at www.timecapsule.com/media.

Do you know where your baby book your first five years is? Does your mom still have your old baby album somewhere? Today we are going to talk about things you wish you would have saved from the first five years of your baby’s life.

Linda is clocking 17 in the next couple days and I hope to make it a big surprise on that very day. What could have been the best thing to make her feel on top of the world? Yeah! I will organize a special dinner for her and take her out for shopping. Would that really make Linda feel great thereafter? Apparently, NO! Uh! What else can I offer to make her feel great? Sigh! Fortunately, Linda’s mom has got a time capsule that she has promised to present to her on her 17th birthday. Can you guess what she has in the time capsule and when she started keeping those things in it?

She actually started saving some great things in the time capsule since Linda was five. Now, she felt a great relief because she’s going to surprise her on that very day. So what is it that she saved, and what do you wish you would have saved from the first five years of your baby’s life? Could it be money? Not really. As a mother, here are some of the things I wish I had saved from the first five years of my baby’s life:

Audio and Video Clips

Of course, your baby has started growing big at 6. However, they normally do some things as if they are 3 years old. Do you agree? Most of them do behave as if they are 3 years old, especially if they have siblings who are just 2 or 3 years old. What do you notice about them? Sometimes they cry uncontrollably because of candy and toys. If you should narrate the story to them when they are 15 or more, they won’t really find it funny at all. In fact, they may not believe it. However if you present the clip to them as a gift, they will appreciate it and keep it safe.

Besides, they may engage in some social activities at school, such as running or dancing competition. Having such occasions recorded is a great way to preserve memories. Not only that they will appreciate it if you finally present it to them, but cherish it more than anything.

Piece of their handwriting, poem, and expressions

Did you even remember the slangs that they used when they were young? What about their handwriting and the poem they have written? If you allow those memories to diminish without showing them in the later years, they will feel bad and probably would not believe whatever it is that you say. Keeping a piece of their poem and expressions in a time capsule is a great way to refresh their memories. It also makes you are caring parent who take care of every important things.

Birthdays and vacation pictures

Days go by fast. Let’s learn how to make your day slower. I don’t know about you, but when I am working throughout the day, the days fly by. I have so many things going on that many times I forget what even happened during the day. What did I accomplish? What memories were made? Here are 10 suggestions on how to make your day slower.

1. As each hour goes by, think of one thing you are thankful for and write it down. It has a side benefit of keeping you positive at work and home.

2. Turn your clock backwards for a day. Look around your home and find mementos or heirloom items to reminisce about.

3. Purposely do something boring. Everyone is different, but here are some suggestions.

Actually watching the commercials during a favorite tv show.

Hand washing dishes.

Folding a large pile of laundry.

4. Recently I have been trying to lose weight. One suggestion that has helped is, eating your meal all alone and without the tv on. It helps you concentrate on the food you are eating and the fact that time seems slower when you are alone and quiet.

Slow down time or the years of your baby’s life by saving their special mementos and other items that relate to their milestone moments in life. Save your baby’s first shoes, first outfit worn, or favorite toy in a Baby Time Capsule. Get your own Baby Time Capsule here.

5. Set up a special day for yourself in the future. When you get extra excited about something, it seems to take time and the days you are waiting through, drag on forever. It is like Christmas for adults. Set up something to look forward to doing int he future.

6. Remember the days as a kid of laying outside at night to look at the stars? Quiet time is relaxing. Set up a blanket and try to find galaxies or make pictures out of the stars at night or the clouds during the day. This is a great way to make memories and learn how to make you day slower.

7. Watch a tv show or movie that you have already seen several times. When we know what is going to happen, it seems to slow down time during the movie.

8. Clean out a room in your house or garage that you have been meaning to do for a long time now. When we have to do projects we don’t want to do, it seems to take forever. It is Spring, and I have been wanting to get our basement cleaned and organized. Sometimes you don’t know what you have in your home until you clean.

9. Spend some time with people who seem to be living a slow daily life. One of my brothers has a very patient personality. Being around a grandparent can also be down time, as they may have to walk slower to get their groceries. You may even hear some great wisdom from them, as you spend time with them.

It is valuable to slow down time, to enjoy your grandparent’s stories and wisdom. Slowing down helps us listen better in life.

10. Sometimes parents wish they could stop time or at very least slow it down. The final idea on how to make you day slower, is to take a longer than normal walk with your kids. When you go further than you expect, it seems like time takes longer until you get back home. Again, while walking with your kids you are slowing down to make more memories.

So what ideas do you have to help slow down time? Comment below.

Let me discuss with you the top 3 reasons to love mom. I hope everyone had a great Mother’s day.

I remember watching the Cosby episode in which Bill Cosby said, “I brought you into this world and I can take you out.”

I remember my family joking around with this quote when we were younger. I am sure your family has fun, similar sayings too.

I know not everyone has a mother, let alone what they would describe as a good relationship with one. Either way, the reason you are breathing and enjoying life is because of your mother. For that, be thankful.

Life can get you down many times, but for me my mom was always there. She has also been around for the fun times.

1. She taught one, first, how to be a girl.

I have discussed in other blogs how my siblings and I did not grow up in the richest family, however I know one thing for sure. I know how to get three different outfits from one shirt. My mom has always had good taste in clothes, but could not always afford to buy them. She taught me how to be a smart girl when I shipped and how to find one shirt that matched two different pairs of pants and a jacket to go over it or a matching shirt. That would help me get my monies worth out of the one shirt.

She also taught me how to use jewelry to dress up a shirt inexpensively. I know these are life hacks I will be passing on to my daughter as well.

2. She taught me how to attract the right guy.

Instead of lecturing or just making it a list of do’s and don’ts, my mom taught me how to pull the positive character and personality traits out of myself and find places to volunteer in life. She taught me how to use my gifts to help others. When we take the focus off ourselves (or our need to be loved or have a boyfriend) “then the right person will come into our lives.” (she always said). She was so right. I am married to him today (Mark).

3. She taught me how to cook.

I almost laughed at that sentence myself. Really, my mom has never liked cooking because she has said, “It takes so long to cook, then is eaten in a few minutes.” I am sure some of you can relate.

Personally, I have a similar mentality, however on holidays my mom always gets out her recipe book and we had fun cooking together my Grandmother’s recipes, from Texas (where my mom grew up). Neither one of us may like to cook, however the bonding time while we do is irreplaceable. There are always many laughs, stories, and memories being shared while we cook together. That is the part of cooking we enjoy.

So how has your mom influenced your life? Again, I know I will be passing at least these top 3 reasons to love mom on to my future children. It is a great legacy from my mom and her mom that will be treasured forever.

Have your mom write down her favorite recipes and lessons from life. Then, put them in a Baby Time Capsule to pass on to your child. You can get a Baby Time Capsule here.

Save your Baby’s Mementos

Save your baby’s mementos for your child to look at years later when your child graduates high school to reminisce and remember what life was like when he or she was born.

What type of pictures should you keep for your baby? Starting from age 5, you can keep all the birthday, and vacation pictures in a special time capsule. One of the things I like about keeping birthdays and vacation pictures is that it reminds you of those you have spent time with. The neighbors and classmates in the elementary schools.

So what mementos and memories would you save in a Baby Time Capsule if you had one? Comment below.

Your Baby is Beautiful

Let’s learn why your baby is beautiful and the most special in the world. There are almost 11,000 babies born everyday in the USA. that is almost 4 Million each year. Worldwide, there are more than 365,000 born each day, and more than 133,225,000 each year. The amazing thing is that we say, “You are one in a million,” but the fact is, they are one in more than 133 million!

I have never met a new parent who didn’t believe that their baby was the most beautiful, and most special baby they had ever seen. And they are right! Their baby is the direct outpouring of their love, and it doesn’t matter how that child came to be! A baby that is accepted into a family is a direct outpouring of love. I was adopted at birth. I have met my birth-mom and know the circumstances of how I was born. It wasn’t that my birth-mom didn’t want to, but more that she couldn’t keep me. As a result, she put me up for adoption, and my parents chose to adopt. Both of these situations are a direct outpouring of love. They say that Love is Blind. To some extent this is true. Love chooses to turn a blind eye to things. When you truly love someone, you can forgive the things that would push you over an edge in someone else. When a child is born, a mother experiences a tremendous amount of pain, but the love she has for her child allows her to forgive that pain when she sees the face of her newborn child.Do you know why love is blind? Because your mother started loving you long before she could see your face! Your mother began loving you the moment she decided to have a child, or the moment she found she was pregnant. Seeing your face for the first time was just the first moment she had a face for that love! From there, her love had grown enough to do things such as change diapers, wear vomit soaked clothes, put you in time out, teach you, ground you, and watch you leave and marry another woman or man.

Yes, love sees joy and beauty where none exists. Love allows you to do things that you never thought possible. Love makes your baby more special, more beautiful, and better than any baby you have ever seen. After all of this, I have to say, “You are right!” Your baby is the most beautiful. Your baby is the most special. Your baby is the most intelligent. Your baby is the best! Your baby is all of these things because your baby is . . . well . . . your baby! Your baby is beautiful.

We know these things, yet we treat our child like every other child out there! We take pictures, we post them to Facebook. We shoot video and show it to everyone we know. But that is where it stops. Why do we not make arrangements to save these things? Why do we not commemorate each milestone by saving a memento? The answer is simple . . . You don’t know what to do with these items!

Now, you have a place to put them . . . The shoes your baby wore when taking their first steps can be easily saved in a Baby Time Capsule. This is the perfect place to save all of the items the most beautiful baby in the world will cherish later in life. What would you put in your baby’s time capsule to remember how beautiful your baby was their first year of life. Get your baby’s time capsule here today and get started saving their favorite baby blanket, onesie, stuffed animal, or other special mementos.

Your baby is coming soon. Learn what to include in a Baby Time Capsule, especially the first month after your baby is born. There are many milestone moments you want to capture.

On the back of this decorative Baby Time Capsule it reads:

Once upon a time you were born…

…and this magical year –

long, long ago – was a time

The wonderful day

of your birth and year

that followed is what this

Time Capsule celebrates.

Your family and friends have gathered a unique
