Lets have fun looking at these 10 fun nostalgic activities for your kids. In our last blog I gave you a challenge challenge on to you to turn off the TV for one night. Do fun things like they did in the past without a TV. Let’s discuss some nostalgic activities to do with your kids.

I hear it all the time. “The reason to have kids is so you can play with the toys yourself.” It brings back memories. challenge on to you. Turn off the TV for one night. Do fun things like they did in the past without a TV. To learn more ideas of things you can do, stay tuned in for out next blog.

1. Go outside and fly a kite. Make education more fun for your kids, by teaching them while they get to have fun at the same time.

2. Put on boots and jump in puddles. You can go way back in history and put bread sacks over your shoes with rubber bands to hold them on. Who remembers doing that? My grandma always saved old bread sacks just in case we wanted to go outside and did not have our boots with us.

3. Climb a tree. Remember when we used to see who could climb the highest in the tree? Spend time bonding with your child and make a homemade tree house. The tree house is where some of my brother’s best memories come from.

4. Skip stones across a pond. Again, it is a time to see how many skips your rock does. I still think my brother miscounted, even though he always won.

5. Have a picnic outside and make animals out of the clouds in the sky. This is a great activity to stretch your child’s imagination.

6. Sit back and just spend time listening to the rain under a tin roof. Teach your kids how you can tell how far away a thunderstorm is by the number of seconds between a lightening bolt and the thunder crack sound. It is approximate, but the number of seconds between the lightening bolt and thunder, equals how many miles away the storm is.

7. Visit a farm and see the animals. Take a horseback ride. Teach your kids not everything you eat comes from the grocery store.

8. Write a letter to yourself in the future. What do you think the world will look like 10, 20, or 50 years from now?

9. Get out your old toys as a kid and play with your child’s new toy dolls. It is like meshing two generations into one play family.

10. Make a time capsule together, preserving some of our child’s toys. You can also make a family time capsule together. Let each of your children throw in one special toy that they do not play with anymore but want to save. Pick out other items that represent your family.

Recall your old school life or childhood with your friends and siblings, as you play with your old toys of the past. Break out your Rubics cube. Call your friends over and tell them to bring some of their old toys. This could be one fun baby sitting hour with your children, while you go back in time playing with each other. Remember Teddy Ruxpin? What other stuffed bears were popular in your time? Have a Super Soaker squirt gun fight in your yard. You can still find some old Super Soakers on Ebay.

What was your favorite toy of the past? Compare your old baby doll to the newer technology dolls for your child today. I remember when Cabbage Patch kids were popular. Now there are baby dolls that talk, cry, and are very life like. What about the popular time of beanie babies? What is the most popular stuffed animal of today? I am sure it will be worth a fortune years in the future.

Save your old toys in a time capsule, to pass on to your children in the future. You never know how much of a collector’s item these toys will be in the future. You are preserving your child’s college fund when you put these items in a time capsule now. You can get your own DIY Time Capsule here, to get started today.

So go outside today. What old nostalgic activity would you like to do with your kid today? Comment below.

Do you ever wish you could freeze time? Let’s discuss the importance of preserving memories, as you may go out to eat with your family this week, or to a special event. What are you doing with your family and friends this week? Will you take your cell phones with you? What was life like before cell phones? You know there is a cost to popularity or fitting in. I heard someone the other day say, “who doesn’t have a cell phone now?”

You know we all used to do some pretty stupid things when we were young. Some of you may have wore bell bottom pants in the past. I wore them myself sometimes. I am not talking little, but big bell bottoms. Oh, they were ugly. Why did I wear them? They were popular. Why did so many of you buy pet rocks in the past. You know the rock you could name, pet it, and give it pet rock food and talk to it every day. It was stupid. People did it to be popular.

Are you more concerned about being popular than standing up for who you are uniquely made to be? Have a passion for the world and your family, but popularity gets in the way? Why do we long to be popular?

Why do we buy a Happy Meal? We want that toy. Then, we are happy. Although 15 minutes later the toy usually breaks. Then, what do you have to do? You have to go back to McDonalds and get another Happy Meal to be happy again. It changes our whole way of thinking from a young child ourselves. We learn to look for things to make us happy. We as adults have toys too, but they are more expensive. Most of the time, we are looking for toys thoughout life to make us continually happy. When that wears out, I will buy another toy, and then when that wears out, then I will buy another toy. Sadly we even take it into our relationships sometimes, treating people like play things or toys. When they do not make us happy, we will get another play thing or adopt another family.

Some of us are so protective of our possessions that we forget what is important. Possessions is not what it is all about. As long as you look for happiness you will never find it. Instead look for times to give to others, then you find happiness. There are many different ways to give back in life. Many of us become consumed with possessions that we consumerism and having the latest things.

What about the old things in life? What about the value of time together compared to the value of the latest cell phone? What is worth more to you? Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying things are not nice. I have lots of things. However it is amazing how we live in a society that pushes for us to have things, to pamper ourselves. It is amazing that no matter how many things you may have, you can still feel empty.

We here at The Original Time Capsule company value time. Time with your family, friends, elders, youth, co-workers, etc. Leadership and happiness is about going out and helping others. That is more valuable than the latest gizmo that says you are a popular leader in your pack. We either sacrifice our family to our passions, or we sacrifice our passions to our family. What are you willing to give up in order to spend more time with your family and make a difference in the world? Stop protecting your phone, and start protecting your family. Protect them by preserving memories with them. You never know what each day brings.

There is a point to all of this. Spend more time with your family. I am tired of going out to eat and seeing the whole family on their own cell phones, instead of spending the time together discussing their day at work or school. How do you bond with your family, if you are doing it with friends on your cell phone instead? How do you bond and learn to de-stress by talking things out with your family, when you are instead trying to play the latest game on your phone?

I was challenged this weekend and now I pass this challenge on to you. Turn off the TV for one night. Do fun things like they did in the past without a TV. To learn more ideas of things you can do, stay tuned in for out next blog. Ha Ha (“tune in”) Pun intended.

A time capsule is all about preserving time. Many times we want to freeze time. Many times we don’t know what we have until it is gone. Don’t wait until it is too late to bond with your children. Make your own Family Time Capsule today with our “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule.

Let us know that you too have learned the importance of preserving memories. What would you put in your time capsule to show how you spent your family time together? Comment below.

Creative Ways to Save College Money for Baby

Looking for creative ways to save college money for your baby. Congratulations on being a first time parent. I am sure there are many things going through your head right now. This is an exciting new time in your life. I know for many parents, as they have a new baby, one of the major things they try to take care of is starting a college savings fund. You may feel like your personal piggy bank account is anorexic after having your baby, however this is also a time to plan for the future life of your child. It seems like tuition rates increase about every year. When you start now, it makes it easier as your child is ready to go off to college.

1. Open a baby’s college savings fund, IRA, or Roth IRA

It is never to early to start saving money for your child’s college. You could even ask friends and family members to help get the savings started at your baby shower by donating to their college fund.

2. Save coupons

You would be surprised at how much money you save up over time, if you donate the amount you save from a coupon into their college fund.

3. Accept Hand Me Down items

Mothers love to help out other mothers. Accept hand me down items, like clothes, toys, walkers, strollers, etc and calculate how much you would have spent on each one. Then, put that money saved into the baby’s college savings account. It all adds up over time.

4. Find a friend or family member to babysit

I would love to just pick up my work and take it to my niece’s house to help my sister in law out financially. Not everyone can do this I know, however many times there is a family member or friend who may know of a friend (who charges cheap) to watch your baby while you are at work. It never hurts to look around and ask. Put the extra money you would be spending on a normal daycare or babysitter aside in your baby’s college fund.

5. Celebrate a Milestone event in your child’s life with a money card

When your baby grows up and has their birthdays, graduation, first communion, bar mitzah, gets straight A’s on their report card, or other milestone moment events, family and friends can send a card with money in it specifically donating to their college fund.

6. Save all change in a basket

When you go somewhere to eat, get gas, or do anything try to pay with cash. When you get change back, throw it in a basket to go donate to your child’s college fund at the bank later. Again, change adds up fast.

7. Buy cloth diapers instead of disposable diapers

If you have to, have a diaper themed baby shower, and each guest to bring at least one cloth diaper. Reusing cloth diapers alone, will help the savings add up over time, which means more money in your baby’s college fund. When guests feel like they are buying the cloth diaper for a good cause and it is a part of your baby shower party fun, then they are more likely to do it and bring one.

8. Get a library card

When you go to your local library, many times there are many free books to read to your child, videos to watch, or CDs to help your baby go to sleep. All these will add up and save money to donate to your baby’s college fund instead. Many times your baby is so young that he or she will not even remember some of the books until he/she starts growing up. So save the money, and go to the library to get them.

9. Use Credit Cards wisely

There are credit cards and programs like Upromise or BabyMint, which help you save money for your baby’s college fund by donating a percentage of everyday purchases to your child’s savings account.

10. Use a Baby Time Capsule as a Piggy Bank

Set a baby time capsule in your baby’s nursery on a shelf to collect savings bonds, or put money in each time a birthday card comes from grandma or other loved ones. You can also save things like baby’s first shoes or other sentimental mementos in the time capsule, for your baby to open when he or she graduates high-school. How much money will be saved in this time capsule, or their first piggy bank? You can even leave “Message to the Future” letters of predictions or words of advice for the baby in the time capsule. See if your predictions of what college they go to comes true when they open the time capsule 18 to 20 years later. Get your decorative Baby Time Capsule here today.

So have you heard of some creative ways to save college money for baby? Share your ideas in the comments below.

How to Make your Life Count

Well, tomorrow is New Year’s Day. I cannot believe this year has already flown by. Who can relate? How are you celebrating the beginning of 2015? If you are like me, you are already working on writing down your resolutions. When we write things down, it makes us more likely to commit and follow through.

There is so much out there, especially since we have access to the internet now, to help us learn from wise people. Each year, I try to do one thing to make my life better. As you look into 2015, what do you see? How do you plan to make your life count this year? You never know if this year will be your last. Never take life for granted.

We ourselves only have one life, yet how many lives do you think you have influenced for the better? You only have one chance to make you life count. What ever has passed, has passed. However we can use it to grow better or bitter. How do you help others with your past and present life. That is the value of a time capsule. There are many tangible items that help define us and our life story so far. There are also things like a New Year’s resolution list that can help define our future and how we want to live better or make our life count more.

How can you use a time capsule to give back to others with your life story?

None of us know how long or short we will live. So if you could write down everything you have been taught that has helped you each year of your life, how long do you think the list would be? As we grow up, we may not think about the lessons or moments in life that helped us get through the tough times. We may not think about all the specific praise we received or think to write down our exact feelings during a milestone moment in our lives. That is where we are here to help. I know if you are like my family, we grow up so fast and forget these lessons many times in our busy daily life.

Then like others I know, who have had children now, we try to recollect what our parents taught us to help us raise our own children now. Do you remember or know what your mother did to help you fall asleep as a baby? Do you know or remember what your parents did to stay away from peer pressure as a teenager? What other questions do you find yourself saying or thinking (what would my mentor, mom, dad, or friend have done in this same situation in the past)?

Write your resolutions on your own “Message to the Future” letter to include in a time capsule you make for yourself. You can open your time capsule at the end of 2015 or whenever you choose, to see if any of your resolutions were completed. Make your life count and leave tangible, heirloom items in the time capsule to pass on to your children, or other family members in the future when the time capsule is opened. What are things in life that God has entrusted to you that you can use to make your life count? Make sure to take pictures of your gifts and talents in action, so you can look at them years later and reminisce what life was like in 2015. Can you still do these same talents years later? Have you expanded the use of your gifts years later, when you open the time capsule? It is always humbling to see our beginning moments in learning things in life. It helps keep us grateful.

Time is such a precious thing. When our treasures start to diminish, fade away, we start to treat things with more respect. Our perspective in life, for memories, start to change. Keep an attitude of gratitude and that is when we are starting to make our life count. A time capsule helps us remain thankful, especially when we open the time capsule and reflect on what we have had in the past to help shape who we are.

Is your life of great value to you? Don’t hold it all to yourself. Give back and teach the children of the future by filling our a “Message to the Future” letter to put in a time capsule. Pay it forward and teach others what helped you make it through your school days, work life, child rearing, and empty next. Start today and get an “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule from www.timecapsule.com. What better way to start your New Year, than with a keepsake that counts.

What is one piece of advice you would put in your time capsule, for children of the future? Comment below.

How Boy or Girl Scouts can Preserve their Memories

We have been discussing in previous blogs about ideas of who can use a time capsule. If you are human, an organization, business, or pet, or basically anything of importance you can use a time capsule.

Help your hard-working boy or girl scouts review their accomplishments over the past year. Keep your projects or photos of your proud moments, or badges received, in your time capsule. What a special day it will be when you as an adult scout, open your own personal time capsule, to show your son or daughter what your own boy or girl scouts was like.

Yes, your parents are there to teach you lessons, teachers can make an impact on your life, and your youth leader or pastor can help guide you, but your boy or girl scouts can teach you special life hacks and other valuable skills. Hard work and determination help guide you through your journey of becoming a scout.

The Scout Effect

Boy or girl scouts can have a great effect on your life. When I think of a time capsule in general, it is interesting to see how scouting was different in the past compared to today. I never had the opportunity to be a girl scout, however I wish I would have because I am a very down to earth girl. I have talked with friends who were a part of the scouts. They talked about the learning how to start a fire with sticks and how much persistence that took, to receive their camping merit badge.

Why would you let your parent eventually throw that badge away after you grew up and moved out of your parent’s home? Save it in a time capsule. That was a milestone moment in your life. It effected you to be focused, finish what you start, and learn the rewards in life from not quitting. That is a great badge and lesson to pass on to your future children as an example.

For my other friends, the girl scouts have prepared them for their future careers. They were taught how to be confident and have a healthy self-esteem. What great lessons to pass on to their future daughters, using a time capsule.

When to Have Boy or Girl Scout Open the Time Capsule

The unique thing about a scout time capsule is that it can be filled with mementos and treasures that the boy or girl cannot open until they either earn their Eagle or Graduate High school. You pick. It is all up to you as the leader or the scout creating their time capsule. What a fun project for a scout troop to make together.

I know some companies look for great leadership and teamwork, so what better way to pass on these lessons you learned in boy or girl scouts, than with a Baby Time Capsule. Preserve your stories and badges in the time capsule, so when your child graduates high-school, he or she can open it and you can further instill the messages of what you learned in scouts as a way of encouraging the same behaviors and virtues in your grown child, in the real world environment now.

Have the scouts fill out an all about me worksheet, to save basic information about themselves in their time capsules, to read years later. Continue to read about this topic and 10 Things I learned from Boy Scouts at http://geoffreywebb.com/2010/08/03/10-things-i-learned-from-boy-scouts/. Oprah Taught Me Online Dating

Ok, so many of you have been having fun reading the perspective my husband had building up to meeting me for the first time. Now here is my half of the story so far, (written by the better half of course) for those who have been wondering.

It was a time in my life when I realized that I had to look at singleness as a gift. You know, too many of us (especially girls) strive to find “the one” in life. What if we spent our lives concentrating on giving back somewhere, and if someone happened to come along in our journey then it will be all the more special.
I was raised in a strong, close family in which we relied on each other to help with issues like friendship issues, dating, dress tips, work, God’s will, saving money, homework, etc. I was very busy in my life at this time, from working with my parent’s at their own business, going to school full-time, and giving my time and help to our church small groups I was involved in. I did not really have time for meeting a guy. Of course, that is when Murphy (I am sure you all know him) said, it is time to interrupt your life.

As I was going through my school, work, church weekly routine, I did realize I was not getting any younger. My story started a couple of weeks before Mark (my husband) received “the checklist,” which you can read about at http://www.timecapsule.com/milestone-moments/milestone-moment-the-checklist-to-meeting-someone-online/

I had a couple of friends in my college class who I started to get to know well. How can you not, considering you were studying for your Psychology tests together, and doing sample case studies of clients which brought up important issues in life. One friend, Nikki said, “do you want to go out with my brother sometime?” I was like, “what???” How do you break it to your friend (based on how she has already described her brother in the past), that her brother is not really your type. Well, I was honest with her and basically said he does not sound like someone I would hang out with as a friend, let alone boyfriend.

How Oprah Taught Me About Online Dating – The Relationship Profile

After much hounding from my friends, who sincerely thought I was a “great girl” and needed to be with someone, they suggested filling out a profile online. Ha. Boy did I laugh. I would never do that. That is not me at all, I was thinking. I said to Nikki, “fine, if I do this though it has to be very descriptive because I do not want some axe-murderer finding me.” I decided when I filled out this profile, that I was going to use it as a teaching or ministry moment. I was tired of meeting so many guys who thought and said, “there are no more ‘great girls’ out there,” with morals, faith, standards, and intelligence. At that time, I was also very involved as a leader in our church youth group. So I figured, if anything maybe there are other church youth group leaders out there who can share group lesson ideas, games, etc with me. For tips from Oprah about how to fill out the best online profile, check out http://www.oprah.com/relationships/Online-Dating-Tips-How-To-Write-Your-Best-Profile_1

The Ministry

So, I began to fill in the profile as a ministry to teach guys how to find a great girl, a Proverbs 31 woman if you will. Now, do not get me wrong I am by no means perfect. However, I do constantly strive to live my life with purpose and give back to others by instilling inspiration, encouraging, or helping educate in areas I have experienced or learned. I still have my online profile saved on paper in our wedding time capsule. It will be a fun memory to read this again on our 25th anniversary, when we open our decorative wedding time capsule. Get this beautiful Wedding Time Capsule from http://www.timecapsule.com/product/weddingtimecapsule/.

So how would you use an online profile to teach or reach out to help someone in the world? Again, looking at singleness as a gift, is one of the best gifts you can give or teach others. It affects your daily, social functioning and those around you. If you want to know what was on the “checklist,” stay tuned to next week’s blog.

Let’s Learn How to Save Audio Recordings in a Time Capsule – The Phone Call

This blog gives new meaning to “save the date.” Drumroll Please: (If you have been following this blog series of how I met my future wife) And now the moment you have been waiting for….the phone call to my future wife.

Over the next 3 weeks we emailed about every day. I’m not talking about these one or two sentence emails. I’m talking about pages and pages of emails. We talked about friends and family. We talked about how we grew up. We talked about church. We talked about music and movies. We talked about everything from what we ate that day to her college professors. We talked about what path our lives were on and what we saw for the future. We emailed about everything!

There comes a point when you decide that email is great, but in order to progress your relationship from being pen pals to actual friends, you have to at least talk on the phone. I finally asked her for her phone number to call. She gave her number to me and said she would be unavailable for a few days. This seemed like an eternity!

I waited several days for her to be available. It was a Thursday afternoon when she told me to call. I remember that I was sitting in my office and it took me a while to build up the courage to call. I have never been really good at talking with girls, but this was different. I wasn’t romantically involved with this girl, but somehow it seemed like I was. I felt close to her yet, I didn’t even really know her. This made things difficult in my mind. Still, I pushed through. I needed to hear this girls voice.

I dialed. The phone began to ring. She answered. My heart skipped a beat as I heard her answer. Her voice was light and playful. I said hello and told her who I was. She giggled playfully and told me that she had something come up and that I needed to call her at her parents house later that night. I took down the new number and hung up. The afternoon seemed to drag on forever, but I was ultimately pleased with the change. You see, while we lived in the same state, she was about an hour away and that meant that the number was long distance. Since she needed me to call her later that night, I could use my cell phone and not pay for the long distance. Since it was after 7:00 PM, it would even be in the scope of my free cell phone minutes. The only thing I liked better than talking to my new friend on the phone was doing it for free!

That night I called her a little after my free minutes kicked in. I wasn’t nearly as nervous this time. I dialed. It rang. Then it happened. . . Her dad answered. I was suddenly nervous again. I explained that I was a friend of Marcie’s and asked if she was there. He proceeded to yell, “Marcie, some guy is on the phone for you.” He then said, “Is this Steve?” I said, “Ummm, No.”

“George?” he continued.

“No,” I replied.

“Kevin?”

It was about this time that I could hear her in the background struggling for the phone saying things like, “Dad, Stop! Give me the phone! Quit! That is so embarrassing.”

He finally said, “Well, I don’t know which guy you are, but here she is” and he handed Marcie the phone.

I could hear the panic in her voice. She wasn’t sure how I would take this interaction. She apologized and explained that her father had a habit of embarrassing her. While I thought it was funny, I had to play like I was offended! “So, who is Steve, Kevin and George? Is one of them your boyfriend?” I could actually hear her shift her weight in embarrassment! Despite her embarrassment, we had a good conversation. Over the next few days and weeks we were able to get to know each other well. I learned how close she was to her family and how big a jokester her father actually was.

I didn’t realize it, but I was beginning to actually have feelings for this girl.

You know it is so easy to forget all these details if you do not write them down, let alone save those special ticket stubs with the date and time stamped from your first date or event where you met your boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, etc.

Save your special items in a Wedding Time Capsule, as a lasting gift to your wife or husband. Get the wedding time capsule at http://www.timecapsule.com/product/weddingtimecapsule/

This is why we do what we do. We help you preserve even these special moments like the first phone call from when you met “the one.” Save the date, time, and recording of your first phone message in a Wedding Time Capsule, to listen to years later. With so many people out there with smart phones now, I wanted to offer this website as a help to teach you how to record your phone calls to save in a time capsule for years, to listen to and reminisce over when you are older or on that special 25th anniversary for your marriage. Check out how to record your phone calls at http://lifehacker.com/how-can-i-record-calls-on-my-smartphone-479216478 If you use another means to record your first phone call with that someone special, make sure you have a means to listen to it back years later in the future.

What are we going to name her? I don’t know, how about you make a list of names you like, and I will make a list of names I like, then we will come together and compare. Let’s see if we have any similarities on our list, then we will choose the best name we like together over dinner somewhere nice. I know this is a common conversation at many other homes around the world, for parents who are about to have a baby. Choosing a baby name, is a difficult decision to make, especially if you want the name to have a special meaning. It is a name your child will have for the rest of their life.

What’s in a Name?

To many, your child’s name is the beginning of their life resume. It may be a name that continues the heritage of your family. There are also many stories, or memories with friends that come to mind when we hear certain names. When you decide on a name, it is like pre-writing the resume of your child. Some people wait till their child is born, to look at him or her physically and emotionally, and then decide on a name that fits his or her personality. When we hear a name, it is like looking back at his or her past self. A name can even be like a “Message to the Future” self of what life will be like for him or her. Start your child’s resume now, with a great and meaningful name. It is always interesting to see how much a child has grown over the years, and watch the character of their name come out more. The name you choose for your child is the precursor of asking “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Make a time capsule, which reflects your baby’s name and personality. Get a decorative Baby Time Capsule from http://www.timecapsule.com/product/babystimecapsule/.

How to Choose a Baby Name?

So where do you begin, to find that perfect name that just “fits?” There are many circumstances to think about for your child, in the future, when choosing their name. Check out this helpful article to help you narrow down your list of names at http://blog.thebump.com/2013/09/17/5-things-i-didnt-think-about-before-picking-a-baby-name-that-i-wish-i-had/. Many people want to know what names are trending. This may help you find a great name, but make sure you pick a name that has meaning to you and your child, not one that is just the latest trend. What is trendy now may not be a trend in the future.

Similar to the baby time capsule, what you save in your child’s time capsule now may not be popular years in the future. That is what makes the time capsule opening celebration so much fun. It is a way to re-live that time in the child’s world, and laugh as what we all thought was “in” or “cool” in the past. Make sure you save your list of names you went through in your child’s baby time capsule, so they see all the work you went through to name them, and see how close they would have been, to being called a girl name. What a laugh that will be in the future, when your child opens that time capsule at their graduation party for example, to see what life was like when he or she was born.

How to Preserve Family Stories and Values

You don’t know what you have until it is gone. Recently I attended a funeral of a friend’s mother. It is sad, that sometimes it takes the end of our lives, to help us put our lives in perspective now. How do you preserve those memories, that come flooding back to our minds, when we look at the faces or places, important in our lives? We have photos we can put in photo albums, giving us a sense of accomplishment. When your children grow up, you as a parent want to know that they are continuing to live out your family values. There are other tangible ways to accomplish this, besides a photo album. Create a digital scrapbook, or save your valuable emails back and forth with friends and family. You can also record audio stories to remember the actual excitement, fear, frustration, happiness, or other emotions during a special event or milestone moment. You can listen to the stories over and over whenever you want, even when your loved one has passed away.

However you choose to remember your memories, the important point is that you do not lose your stories or tangible objects that go with your special memories. Let’s learn more about how to preserve family stories and values. Save your mementos in a time capsule keepsake. These sentimental items will help with the details of your stories and will create a richer moment of celebration, years later when you open your time capsule to tell your grandchildren or special someone what that time in your life was like.

So, as you family gathers around for the next holiday or get-together, make sure you spend time recording those family stories being told. Gather one object, which has important meaning, from each family member, to put in a time capsule keepsake. Treasure your family values forever, for your future generations. Don’t forget to include a family tree in your time capsule.

Do not wait till later to gather your family history stories. It may be too late, as we all get older and forget things or these valuable stories. Get children involved, and show them how much you value family, and have them include their own drawings in a time capsule. What will their own interpretation of their drawing be, years later in their lives when the time capsule is opened? Do not devalue family values. Capture them in a time capsule keepsake today. To learn more about this topic read http://www.aplaceformom.com/blog/preserve-your-familys-living-legacy-12-12-12/ or to make your own family heritage project, check out http://www.teachingwithtlc.com/2007/10/family-heritage-project.html

How to Show Love to Others on Valentine’s Day – Do Your Best

Learn how to show love to others on Valentine’s Day. Be the best at what matters most in whatever you do daily….Love. Love is what matters most in our daily life walk with our spouse, child, job, social time with friends, etc. We are all surprised when we receive letters in the mail, let alone a love letter from someone who deeply cares about us.

We here at The Original Time Capsule Company want to write our customers a love letter and say thank you with this blog of helpful ideas, on how you too can share love with others around you every day. Many milestone moments come from special days of showing or giving love to others whether through acts of service, friendship, laughter, support, acceptance, etc.

Valentine’s day is advertised as a day to sell candy, flowers, gifts, etc. We, at The Original Time Capsule company do not want you to forget that love, the main ingredient associated with Valentine’s day, needs to be the focus in everything we do, every day, not just on this holiday. Currently this world is so consumed with social media, working faster, harder, their status, and whether or not someone gave them a “Like.” This Valentine’s Day, we want you to slow down and push the “Love” button with friends and family.

Not everyone has that special someone to celebrate with on Valentine’s day, but everyone can love someone or something else on this day. Many times, we forget what it means to be loved, and need helpful tips or ideas of how to show that to someone else. Valentine’s Day can be helpful for that, especially for the guys who do not like this holiday.

For the Spouses – Show Love:

Do your best at showing love to your spouse. Not everyone is created equal. We each have different ways of showing love. Do your best at what matters most this holiday, and spend time and show love with someone or something you care about. See this helpful list of ideas of how to love your special someone on February 14. See these ideas at http://www.familylife.com/articles/topics/holidays/featured/valentines-day/25-valentines-day-ideas-for-couples#.Uvf35E2YaM8.
For the Family – Show Love:

Do your best, at what matters most – Spending time and showing love to your family and children. Many times children are listening, even when we do not think they are listening. I remember pressing my ear against my parent’s door, listening in on conversations secretly. Make sure your children hear the most important message of all this holiday…I Love You with these unique activities at http://www.sheknows.com/parenting/articles/1028393/unique-things-to-do-with-your-kids-this-valentines-day

For the Job – Show Love:

Do your best, at showing love in your job. Others, who may be looking up to you, or looking to move you up the ladder watch and notice your acts of love toward your job and others around you. It is in our best interest to show love at our jobs daily to others, which in turn gives love back to ourselves. It is easier to be around others when you show love to them, even when you do not feel like it. Here are some other great ideas of how to show your co-workers love. http://www.reporter-times.com/entertainment/parade/living/want-your-coworkers-to-love-you-try-these-tips/article_3c128fb7-bc16-5458-b6f0-6b4f60108dcf.html

For the Friends – Show Love:

Do you best, at what matters most when you are single on Valentine’s Day – Spending time with friends. It is vital to continue to give to yourself, so that you can continue to give love to others around you daily. So go spend time with yourself or friends and love on them with the helpful ideas from http://www.yourtango.com/2014206743/single-valentines-day-ideas-youll-love

Instead of making excuses why not to have Valentine’s Day, make excused to do your best and show love everyday with your spouse, family, job, friends, and yourself. Pay it forward – Love.

Instead:
– Make the excuse to spend much needed time with your hubby.
– Make the excuse to eat chocolate with friends and family
– Make the excuse to relax and enjoy a hobby away from your kids
– Make the excuse to slow dance in your living room, write a love letter, or record a video to say I love you to your spouse, friends, children, co-worker and thank them for all they have done and how they have shown you love.

Please leave a comment below on what you did for this Valentine’s week to push the “Love” button on someone else, and how you plan to show “Love” every day. We, “Like” that, as Facebook would say, but where is the “Love” it button when we need it.

Valentine’s Day – Do your best…
