Have you ever wished you could turn the clock backwards and go back in time? What if you could relive that special birthday or first year of your baby’s life all over again? Would you do it if you had the chance? Let’s learn about different ways to go back in time.

You know if I could go back in time and do my English classes all over again, I would. Only this time I would enjoy writing because I would write about all kinds of things that I could save up as blogs to publish in the future (or now) when blogging is popular. It would be interesting to see how my blogs (or known as “essays” in the past) would have changed over time up until today. Then, if I knew in the past, that I could possibly be paid to write these blog posts, I would have been a very dedicated student and wouldn’t have complained as much about writing if I knew I could earn money for it.

What things would you have done differently, if you could go back in time?

It is a thought provoking question that we may or may not want to think about, let alone answer. Sometimes going back in time or history can help us realize how far we have come, what all we have accomplished, and just how thankful we should be.

List of Reasons Why to go Back in Time

It would be cool to meet ancestors or relatives we never had a chance to get to know. You could also go back in time to see your favorite pet.

Be able to start over in life and make a difference.

Be able to see your favorite old music group in concert.

You can fix old mistakes in your life if you go back in time.

It would be fun to play with old toys or games of the past.

You could pretend that your parent’s never got divorced, or any other bad thing that has happened today.

You could go back to dating again and think a little more clearly about who you wanted to marry.

You could go back in time and learn what life was like when your mom or dad was a kid.

You could meet historical characters of the past.

Go back in time to see what life was like when you were a baby.

I am sure there are many other reasons, but these are just a few to get you thinking. What would be your reason why you would want to go back in time? Share in the comments below.

List of Ways to go Back in Time

Through memory, you can return to your childhood or when you were younger. When did you first fall in love? You can reminisce with your memories just by using your five senses too. Just the smell of a specific perfume or cologne can bring back vivid memories.

Go to an old restaurant or building that has been up for years or even decades. Go to the museum and reminisce through history.

Listen to a record on a record player. It sounds so different, compared to music today, and will take you way back.

Go back in time and visit your old house you grew up in, or you can pull it up on Google maps and view it there.

You can turn back time on your computer and see what all you were working on in the past, by doing a system restore.

Think about how far you have come in life, by writing your updated resume. It is interesting to think about all your old jobs and how they have influenced you to this day.

Bring all your old social media memories back, years later using the Timehop app. It is a cool social time machine.

Pull out your old photo album and recollect all your old stories and memories.

Listen to old songs you loved as a teenager.

Play old childhood games.

Make a time capsule and collect all your sentimental mementos and memorabilia in. Then, years later open the time capsule and go back in time reminiscing about what life was like when you were born, married, or any other special milestone moment in your life. Use the “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule to create a time capsule for any subject you want. It could be for a graduation, your life, family, charity, business, birthday, etc. Get your DIY Time Capsule here.

My new niece, Arden.

“Yes, you are officially a new parent Matt.” This is what I said to my brother this past Thanksgiving weekend as we all gathered together as a family. Now we are a bigger family, because he and his wife recently had their first baby. “You are taking more pictures now, than you ever have in the past.” “You are using Facebook more than ever, posting the new baby photos about every week.” That is the sign of new parent syndrome. It is a great sickness to have.

We love to hear and see stories in action, of parents or couples doing whatever it takes to preserve memories. That is what keeps family stories and traditions going. What fun memories did you make with your family this past Thanksgiving? It is never too late, because Christmas is coming up, then we start all over again with a new year filled with special days and events to make new memories.

How to Preserve Memories

Kwote App

Kids say the darndest things. It usually happens on the spur of a moment, so how do you capture that? If you are like me, I do not constantly have a pad of paper I am carrying around with me. Also, if I do not write it down that moment, and wait till later I get so busy that I forget to write it down. There are so many apps out there nowadays. Check out one called “Kwote.” It is completely free to use. Get your Kwote app here. Save your child’s quotes on a colorful background, then put them throughout your photo album or scrapbook pages. It is so cool and easy to use.

Save Grandparent Voices

Have a grandparent, baby sitter, family member, or friend, read your child’s favorite book out loud and record it. A great keepsake and from those you love and a comforting voice to listen to years later. You really do not know what you have until it is gone many times.

Holiday Memories

Thanksgiving is a perfect time to gather together around the table and take advantage of the time and get people to tell some of the stories of their life. Get the whole family involved. Make a game out of it. Go around the table and tell about something funny that happened in school. The key is not to wait. There are so many different ways to document these great stories for your kids and grandkids. Collect these memory makers, like old photographs, handwritten letters, newspaper articles, and family recipes while you are eating that delicious traditional pumpkin or apple pie on Thanksgiving day. A new recipe you create today, can become an old tradition years later when passed down from generation to generation.

Photo from: http://www.oysmem.com/why-you-need-to-preserve-memories/

Create a Digital Scrapbook

There are so many options to use and digital scrapbooks you can find on Google. It is an option to dump all those photos collecting on your phone, in a creative keepsake fashion.

What are you doing to preserve your protective photos, slides, audio and video tapes. These are priceless, because they help us bridge gaps of generations in our family. If you are like me or most people, you are storing them in boxes and containers under the bed, or in closets or basement shelves. Preserve family stories and traditions, giving your children an answer to their future questions of where their family came from. Some memories may still be stored in your grandmother’s memory waiting to come out. Where ever they are, they are slipping away and deteriorating waiting to be preserved.

Get started now in preserving your memories and other tangible heirloom objects with a decorative Baby or Wedding Time Capsule from http://www.timecapsule.com.

5 Quick and Easy Scrapbooking Ideas

Scrapbook design by Erin Roe.

We live in a very busy, instant, microwave type world. We also all want to be great parents and keep all the sentimental memories alive for our children, especially when they are born. So how do you take care of a newborn and save their special moments in a scrapbook at the same time? We all have only 24 hours per day, with other tasks, work, chores, or priorities that may come first before creating a scrapbook. Who can relate?

Use Digital Scrapbooking.

More and more of us are constantly carrying our phones wherever we go. Use your cell phone camera more and take pictures of your daily life. It is not going to be a mundane topic years from now. Your kids may wonder what life was like for you as the parent, when they were born. Even 10 minutes before bed every other night, can be more time spent on creating a digital scrapbook page, than no time before bed. There are so many you tube videos out there to help you learn quick ways to make an easy scrapbook page to get you started.

Organize your Supplies for Scrapbooking

Just like your bills you may separate out for tax purposes, you can have different envelopes for daily or weekly events, photos, or drawings from school for your kids. This will make it easier if you also separate the folders out by months in the year. Then, you are sure to save time later, not having to put everything in order of days, months, or years. If you are using digital scrapbooking, make sure to save your photos with dates on them too. You do not want to forget later when your child first learned how to walk. You can even use folders and subfolders on your computer to organize your memories. Also make sure to have a separate folder for “templates” or other different scrapbook clipart or overlays you want to use later, to simply pull from and make your special page.

Turn Off Distractions

Again, I know you get busy like myself. I just do not want any of you to be so busy that you have regrets later in life, by not saving or preserving your child’s most important milestone moments in a decorative or scrapbook way. Not everything can be eliminated, I know. However, I am sure you need your time alone many times, so turn off the tv, lock yourself in the bathroom if you have to, to get away from your kids for a while. Shut down your email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Do you check Facebook when taking a shower each morning? I hope not, so set aside time for you again to scrapbook.

Find an Easy Scrapbook to Use

I have tried to make a fancy scrapbook in the past, but it started to take too long. Instead of wanting to give up, I decided to use a regular photo album to start something, anything. Check out this website to learn how to even use a photo album to get you started on scrapbooking easy, clean and scentsible at http://www.cleanandscentsible.com/2011/05/scrapbook-saturday-no-2-quick-and-easy.html.

The Fastest, Easiest, No Guilt Scrapbook Idea

Our most favorite idea for the busy parent is to use a decorative Baby Scrapbook to preserve your sentimental stories, photos, and even other mementos that you cannot fit in a scrapbook. A Baby Time Capsule is better than a scrapbook, because it is even faster and easier to use. It seems like the more kids you have, the less time you have, so by your third child, you start to fizzle on creating keepsakes like an elaborate scrapbook. Make sure to include a small photo album in the Baby Time Capsule. Photo album cover included with the sticker pack in the time capsule kit. So check out the unique and artistic Baby Time Capsule from http://www.timecapsule.com/product/milestone-collection-baby-time-capsule-keepsake-gift/.

A Cool Baby Book Alternative – Baby Time Capsule

“Oh Look, It’s Me!” Now, this is a statement you want to hear your child say as he or she opens their alternative baby book. Their alternative is a decorative baby time capsule.

So many people have their own websites, or use the internet today and see other people’s websites. A baby time capsule is like your child’s “About me” page if their life was a website.

Of course you want to include all the memorabilia, nostalgic items (like baby’s first pacifier, or favorite toy) in the baby time capsule, but what else makes up who he or she is? As life gets busier, it is hard to have time to make a special scrapbook or keep track of all the details of your newborn child. Many people can barely keep up with the baby book of their first child, let alone their fourth or fifth. Comment below if you can relate.

Each child is special, and you do not want one child to feel more loves or special compared to the other, years later when one child has more photos or information kept, compared to their sister or brother. There is a lot of guilt and shame that can come with keeping up with your baby’s milestones, so that is why we do what we do and sell an alternative – introducing the baby time capsule.

The baby time capsule will leave you with no guilt and it is a special keepsake that will last and treasure memories forever.

Just toss your baby’s favorite and sentimental items in the decorative tin, and fill out sample questions like the following in your baby’s profile book included.

Live a live without Regrets – Take time to jot down a few sentences at the end of each day about your baby. Don’t wait until your child is now 20 and comes to ask you what he or she was like as a baby. Preserve these precious moments and little tidbits of the first year of their life, in a baby time capsule.

How to Preserve Family Stories and Values

You don’t know what you have until it is gone. Recently I attended a funeral of a friend’s mother. It is sad, that sometimes it takes the end of our lives, to help us put our lives in perspective now. How do you preserve those memories, that come flooding back to our minds, when we look at the faces or places, important in our lives? We have photos we can put in photo albums, giving us a sense of accomplishment. When your children grow up, you as a parent want to know that they are continuing to live out your family values. There are other tangible ways to accomplish this, besides a photo album. Create a digital scrapbook, or save your valuable emails back and forth with friends and family. You can also record audio stories to remember the actual excitement, fear, frustration, happiness, or other emotions during a special event or milestone moment. You can listen to the stories over and over whenever you want, even when your loved one has passed away.

However you choose to remember your memories, the important point is that you do not lose your stories or tangible objects that go with your special memories. Let’s learn more about how to preserve family stories and values. Save your mementos in a time capsule keepsake. These sentimental items will help with the details of your stories and will create a richer moment of celebration, years later when you open your time capsule to tell your grandchildren or special someone what that time in your life was like.

So, as you family gathers around for the next holiday or get-together, make sure you spend time recording those family stories being told. Gather one object, which has important meaning, from each family member, to put in a time capsule keepsake. Treasure your family values forever, for your future generations. Don’t forget to include a family tree in your time capsule.

Do not wait till later to gather your family history stories. It may be too late, as we all get older and forget things or these valuable stories. Get children involved, and show them how much you value family, and have them include their own drawings in a time capsule. What will their own interpretation of their drawing be, years later in their lives when the time capsule is opened? Do not devalue family values. Capture them in a time capsule keepsake today. To learn more about this topic read http://www.aplaceformom.com/blog/preserve-your-familys-living-legacy-12-12-12/ or to make your own family heritage project, check out http://www.teachingwithtlc.com/2007/10/family-heritage-project.html

What is one value you have learned from your family, that you would like to pass on to your children? Comment below.

New Mom Looks – How your hair is a time capsule

I have wanted to get a new haircut lately. I get bored easily, so I have already been looking at some pictures online, in magazines, etc to find ideas of what to do with my hair. I know girls especially can relate. When you are pregnant for the first time, and about to be a parent, it can be interesting to review hairstyle books and find new mom looks that may suite you better as you start the journey of motherhood.

Anyways, did you know your own hair is a time capsule. Just pull out your old photo album and watch your photos and hair styles progress, as you flip through the pages. Which style did you like the most, in the past? Check out this website to read about how hair styles have changed in our past, at http://blog.fibond.com/hair-styles-changed-years/

Our hair is an important part of our lives. We all want to look attractive, nice, presentable, professional (if need be), and feel like we fit in with our hair. Hairstyles have changed greatly over the past centuries. Hairstyles even say a lot about our personality as we age, which is what a time capsule does to. A time capsule tells a story of who you are, or want to be, over a century or specific period of time. Also, a time capsule is a very emotional product, similar to our own hair styles, as we watch ourselves change over the years, whether in a good or bad way.

From long, short, wavy, colored, curly, straight, you may see all of these in your photo album as you skim the pages and laugh about the memories over your past years of hair styles. For others, when you cut your hair, you are changing your life or the life of someone else. What a milestone moment that is. For example, when some of you have your long hair cut for great programs like “Locks of Love.” This is a great cause to give back to others who may have lost their hair due to cancer. Thank you to any of you who have given sacrificially to this beautiful ministry. This is also what a time capsule is all about, giving back to your children, or other family members, messages of hope, stories of things you have done in the past, to pass on to them important lessons of advice of what to do or not do, in life.

Will you take the time to write down these lessons, along with putting your favorite photos of that time in your life, in a time capsule, to pass on to your children? I remember hating History in high-school, but in reality it is important to review it, so we do not make the same mistakes again. Now I really enjoy history, especially if it is a topic within history I enjoy talking about. I enjoy talking about family and even hair styles. It may seem little, but hair is important in history. When I review my old photos, I can tell which style helped me feel and look more confident and successful in life.

We all usually want what someone else has, especially when it comes to hair for girls. We are constantly striving to look great, or like the latest celebrity. If you are a new mother, you may be thinking of a new hairstyle even more now in life. A new hairstyle is one way to accessorize a major life event or milestone moment.

You are now on a new journey, and may want a different look with this walk of life with a new baby. Be confident in who you are. That is what makes you, you. If you are looking for new hairstyles yourself, check out the latest trends for 2014 at http://www.latest-hairstyles.com/trends/. Also find out what hair cut suits you better at http://beautifille.com/hairstyle-suits-me-best/. I hope this blogs offered helpful ideas for other women thinking of changing, styling, and/or cutting their hair too. Make sure you take a before and after picture of your hair, especially if you are a new mom, to save in a decorative Baby Time Capsule from www.timecapsule.com.

Also, make sure to save a cut off piece of your baby’s first haircut in the time capsule too. What a special bonding moment that will be when your child opens that time capsule, years later like at his or her graduation, and sees their baby hair for the first time. Hair is important, so save it.

Congratulations on being pregnant or recently having your precious child. What a special gift. You are officially a mother now. Hold on tight. This will be your first Mother’s Day. After being in labor for who knows how long, being nine months pregnant, you have definitely deserved this day. Make your first Mother’s Day as unforgettable as you are.

Live each day of your life without regrets. That is one of my life mottos, so I want you to live this one special holiday to the fullest, one in which you never forget. Remember those cute DIY Mother’s day gifts or cards you made your mother, the special dinner you made your mother (as best as you could), the funny or sentimental show you put on for your mom? Ah, the good old days when we were very creative as children, in our choices of gifts of thanks to our mother for Mother’s Day.

What do you really want for Mother’s Day? – It’s Your Day, be selfish. It’s ok.
Ask yourself:

–	What do I wish I could have done or completed last year before getting pregnant?
–	What do I really need as a mother right now?
–	What do I enjoy doing the most for fun?
–	What have I always wanted?

Breakfast in bed sounds nice, getting a mani/pedi or spa treatment for a day, flowers, cake, or perhaps a looooonnnnggggg nap (especially if you have been up with your new baby for several days in a row now). Many times, it is so hard to get away from your child on your first Mother’s Day. You don’t have to though. Why not do something meaningful, unique, and memorable on your first Mother’s Day. Spend the day filling a decorative and artistic Baby Time Capsule from www.timecapsule.com.

Tips to Make a Milestone Moment Mother’s Day

1.	Take a lot of photos of your pregnancy, new baby, family, friends, where you celebrated this day, food eaten, gifts received, etc. Be able to show and tell your child what you did for your first Mother’s Day, years later when he or she opens their time capsule or asks as you are looking at your photo album.

2.	Make sure to spend time with your mother and grandmother too. There is nothing like the wisdom, advice, care, and presence of your very own mother and generational line of love near you this Mother’s Day. They may just have some helpful hints for your first year with your new baby.

3.	Start a new tradition together on your first Mother’s Day. Make a craft together, go somewhere, play games, drink tea on the porch and reminisce, etc.

4.	Do nothing….Ah, the day you have been waiting for most as a new parent. The ultimate day of rest. Stay in bed and watch your favorite movie, sleep, read, etc. It’s your day, so make the most of it. For a great laugh on your well deserved day, check out http://viralspiralgroup.blogspot.com/2014/03/how-to-become-favourite-child-on.html

How will you celebrate your first Mother’s Day? Tell us in the comments, or share your most memorable Mother’s Day moment or gift you received.
