A Continuation of Milestone Moment: The Secret to Preserving Memories (How I Met My Wife). Read the previous blogs in the category called: Meeting the Love of your Life.

My time with my nieces is precious! I never seem to have enough. When I am with them, the time flies by and it is over too soon. This time was a little different though. I was actually spending 9 days with them, so it seemed like it went slower. On Sunday morning, they were all getting ready for church, and I decided to check my email. It had been several days and I really wanted to know if FaithfulGodChaser had sent me an email. To be honest, I really didn’t expect it. In my mind, I was thinking about all the reasons that I had given her not to email me. You see, I had told the truth about my life. . . I told her about being divorced and expected that a “good girl” like her would not be interested in even a friendship with someone like me. I was shocked when I opened my email . . . There it was.

I had butterflies in my stomach as I opened it up. What would it say? Would she be kind? Would she tell me to go away? I began to read her email. I didn’t even realize until later that I was biting my bottom lip with anticipation. After reading a paragraph, I looked to see if this was a short or a long email . . . To my pleasant surprise, it was huge! It took me about 30 minutes to finish reading the email. As I was closing it down, my youngest niece, Sydni, (Spelled, S-Y-D-N-I-With a dot! You do not forget her dot, or she will not be happy with you!) asked me what I was doing. I told her that I was reading an email from a girl I just met online. Even at the age of 4, she understood what this meant and she made sure the whole house knew! Uncle Mark has a girlfriend! Uncle Mark has a girlfriend!

While my relationship with the girl I now knew as Marcie was far from being a “real relationship” the taunts from the children in the house went on all day. “Mark and Marcie, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” We all know the song. We have all sung it at one point in our lives. I must admit, it is a little different when you are a grown man, hearing these childhood taunts. It had been 6 or 7 years since I had been in any kind of relationship, and it felt good to know that this was even a possibility.

It took me a couple of days to find the time to email her back. I stayed up late on the last night that I was there in order to send a response. I needed to think without all the tormenting from my favorite girls in the world. I carefully answered her questions and posed a few of my own. This girl seemed to have a lot of things in common with me. She was not interested in a romantic relationship, and frankly, neither was I. This was my first attempt after being divorced. There was still a lot of hurt there. While emailing with her was fun, it also brought up a lot of hurt and pain.

I drove home in quiet reflection of the email I had received while there. I thought about who this person is and what she had said. I knew in my heart that we would be good friends. I knew that God had brought her into my life for a reason. I knew that my life would never be the same just because we had talked. But I didn’t know how true those thoughts really were . . .

It would be interesting to journal about my anxiety levels (as they were very high at this point in our relationship), and watch them fall as I got to know my future wife better. Now that is a journal that would be helpful to read to my future child, to explain what it is like meeting “the one” you will marry eventually. What a fun journal to save in a time capsule. Let’s face it, it can be scary meeting someone we do not know, let alone someone online. Here is a helpful website to help you write your first (milestone moment) email back to that special someone, like I did. Check out these tips at http://www.match.com/magazine/article/8753/Send-A-Standout-Email/.

Have fun getting to know each other. Remember it is important to be friends first. Start your life story of how you met with a journal like this at https://www.etsy.com/listing/130915450/memories-from-the-day-we-met-5-x-7?ref=market. Save this journal in your Wedding Time Capsule, to open up years later (like at your 25th Anniversary) to read again, and cry or laugh together as you reminisce. Save your emails you write back and forth together, as you get to know each other, then read them years later after you get married. What a milestone moment that day will be for you both, as you reminisce and reflect on what life was like the year you first met or emailed each other.

Where did you first meet your spouse? Comment below. We love to hear your stories too.

Happy Father’s Day Dad: Father’s Day Keepsake Gifts

Father’s day is just around the corner. What are you going to do? Why not create something different this year, and make it an unforgettable gift that lasts a lifetime.

Record your memories in a book, scrapbook, audio file, etc. That is what a dad really wants – to know he is loved and appreciated.

There are so many stories I remember with my father, like helping make homework fun, to the point that now I love math. I used to cry myself through the math homework, but because of my father’s patience and creativity, he took on my challenge to turn math into games, to help me remember better. What do you remember the most about your father?

How to Remember and Thank your Father

Not everyone will have a happy Father’s day. For some it is a painful reminder that dad is no longer around. It does not have to be that way though. You can still honor your dad by leaving a legacy and telling your children stories about their grandfather. Create a memory book for him. While you miss your father, help yourself through the continued grieving journey and explain to your children what all you learned from him, passing on his wisdom, insight, funny stories or jokes.

Thank your Father with Photos and Memories – Help Keep Traditions Alive

Whether your dad is with you still or not, plan the best Father’s day this year with a gift of shared stories and mementos. Create a gift to pass on from one generation to another, telling your father’s history and contribution to your family. Create a time capsule for your dad.

What to Put in a Time Capsule for your Dad. Make Unique Father’s Day Keepsake Gifts.

A time capsule for your father, is the most personalized gift you will ever give him. You can make this a family gift, having your mother or siblings help, or make is special only from you. Look around your house, your mother’s house, in your old photo albums, in his secret cave man rooms of fun, to find things to put in the time capsule. Ask family members and his own friends to fill out letters or “Message to the Future” notes about where they predict he will be later on in life.

Other Things to Include in Dad’s Time Capsule

• Stories about funny or sentimental moments you had with your father (written or voice recorded).

• Then and Now photos of your father.

• Written letters to him about milestone moments in his life or how he was there for you in your life for meaningful events.

• Include an “All About my Dad” worksheet to fill out for family members.

Download this FREE Printable “All About My Dad” for you kids to have fun filling out. Get it at http://allforthememories.com/blog/2011/6/7/free-fathers-day-printable.html

• Play a practical joke on him, and put it in the time capsule. You know you owe him for all the jokes he played on you.

• Include your dad’s favorite magazine or newspaper in the time capsule (so when he opens it about 20 years later, he can read about his interests in the past and what life was like then at that time.)

• Current photos of your dad’s house, before he does anymore remodeling. You could also include a picture of his current car he is driving, which will change in the future.

• School projects or drawings from you or your siblings of your dad or made for your father.

• Ticket stubs from special movies seen, or places you went with your father.

• Anything special from his job, to show his accomplishments in life at this time.

These are just a few suggestions to get you started on such a memorable activity and gift for Father’s day. You could even have fun and hide the time capsule in your home, then set up a geocaching game to have him find his own gift, then open the time capsule to see what is inside. Keep in mind, this time capsule can be closed again after he opens it on Father’s day, to be displayed for several more years into the future, when you and your siblings get to decide when he opens it again. When he reopens the time capsule again, in the future, it will be like re-living and re-celebrating this Father’s day all over again. What a fun moment that will be to see whose predictions were right (in your letters), or to just listen to the stories all over again and see how much your dad has changed.

A Selfie – What Represents this Time Period

A “selfie” is the latest craze word you hear everywhere thanks to cell phones enabling a special camera to take a self picture and then post it to social media to share with friends and family, instantly. A selfie is exactly what you would want to put in a time capsule, especially to represent this time period in our lives, for future generations to know what life was like when we were alive. A selfie is the ultimate time capsule. A selfie is a way of expressing emotion, that you may not have words for, similar to other fun or important photos taken in our lives.

A selfie takes photography and Yourself to a whole new level.

We all need and want to be heard, noticed, and matter in life. We are all unique, precious, and gifted individuals. Who are you? What do you like? How do you spend your time? What are your favorite places to go, things to do, or clothes to wear? What is your favorite meal? Who are your best friends? Do you really watch how you are changing and growing as a person? What important lessons have you learned? When we do not share this information with our family, friends, children, grandchildren, we are neglecting or cheating our ancestors from knowing us.

Everyone has a part in shaping the world we live in, and the direction our children will go. Be selfish and take note of who you are. Take a selfie each year, as you grow in life. Tell a story about yourself each year. Write a “Message to the Future” letter to your children now, about where you see them years from now. Your children will thank you for investing yourself and time into this milestone moment letter they will read, years later in their life. For tips on how to take great selfie pictures, check out http://www.buzzle.com/articles/tips-on-taking-a-great-selfie.html

Life is a Journey

Most people want to see progress in their lives. This is why a time capsule is important. A selfie is just one item (or several items, depending on how many selfies you take), to show this personal progress. There is no need to be famous, or to become famous before taking a selfie. A selfie helps you feel famous. You are famous to someone in your life. Please remember this. You are valuable to someone. You may not feel like it some days, but your children will definitely thank you years later, and think you are famous.

So go ahead, take that selfie. Put it in a time capsule. Get ready to open it years later and have a few laughs with your children. You could even save your selfie as a new mother and father with your baby, then take an end selfie when your child graduates high-school. What differences will you see in your before and after photos of yourselves. Then, put your photos as parents of your child, in a Baby Time Capsule, along with other memorabilia you preserved, and give it to your grown child now on their Graduation day. What a special moment this will be when he or she opens their own Baby Time Capsule to see what life was like when he or she was born or what you were like as parents.

A selfie. It just may be one of the most important pictures you have ever taken, for yourself or for someone else.

A time capsule. It just may be one of the most important projects you have ever done, for yourself or for someone else.

What is your favorite selfie you have done? Comment below or post your selfie in the comments. We want to see your selfies.

New Mom Looks – How your hair is a time capsule

I have wanted to get a new haircut lately. I get bored easily, so I have already been looking at some pictures online, in magazines, etc to find ideas of what to do with my hair. I know girls especially can relate. When you are pregnant for the first time, and about to be a parent, it can be interesting to review hairstyle books and find new mom looks that may suite you better as you start the journey of motherhood.

Anyways, did you know your own hair is a time capsule. Just pull out your old photo album and watch your photos and hair styles progress, as you flip through the pages. Which style did you like the most, in the past? Check out this website to read about how hair styles have changed in our past, at http://blog.fibond.com/hair-styles-changed-years/

Our hair is an important part of our lives. We all want to look attractive, nice, presentable, professional (if need be), and feel like we fit in with our hair. Hairstyles have changed greatly over the past centuries. Hairstyles even say a lot about our personality as we age, which is what a time capsule does to. A time capsule tells a story of who you are, or want to be, over a century or specific period of time. Also, a time capsule is a very emotional product, similar to our own hair styles, as we watch ourselves change over the years, whether in a good or bad way.

From long, short, wavy, colored, curly, straight, you may see all of these in your photo album as you skim the pages and laugh about the memories over your past years of hair styles. For others, when you cut your hair, you are changing your life or the life of someone else. What a milestone moment that is. For example, when some of you have your long hair cut for great programs like “Locks of Love.” This is a great cause to give back to others who may have lost their hair due to cancer. Thank you to any of you who have given sacrificially to this beautiful ministry. This is also what a time capsule is all about, giving back to your children, or other family members, messages of hope, stories of things you have done in the past, to pass on to them important lessons of advice of what to do or not do, in life.

Will you take the time to write down these lessons, along with putting your favorite photos of that time in your life, in a time capsule, to pass on to your children? I remember hating History in high-school, but in reality it is important to review it, so we do not make the same mistakes again. Now I really enjoy history, especially if it is a topic within history I enjoy talking about. I enjoy talking about family and even hair styles. It may seem little, but hair is important in history. When I review my old photos, I can tell which style helped me feel and look more confident and successful in life.

We all usually want what someone else has, especially when it comes to hair for girls. We are constantly striving to look great, or like the latest celebrity. If you are a new mother, you may be thinking of a new hairstyle even more now in life. A new hairstyle is one way to accessorize a major life event or milestone moment.

You are now on a new journey, and may want a different look with this walk of life with a new baby. Be confident in who you are. That is what makes you, you. If you are looking for new hairstyles yourself, check out the latest trends for 2014 at http://www.latest-hairstyles.com/trends/. Also find out what hair cut suits you better at http://beautifille.com/hairstyle-suits-me-best/. I hope this blogs offered helpful ideas for other women thinking of changing, styling, and/or cutting their hair too. Make sure you take a before and after picture of your hair, especially if you are a new mom, to save in a decorative Baby Time Capsule from www.timecapsule.com.

Also, make sure to save a cut off piece of your baby’s first haircut in the time capsule too. What a special bonding moment that will be when your child opens that time capsule, years later like at his or her graduation, and sees their baby hair for the first time. Hair is important, so save it.
